Spears revealed the horrendous DMs and the sender reached out to her to apologize.
Jamie Lynn Spears claims she is used to receiving hate online. However, she stood up against one of her critics Monday after they had seriously crossed the line with her DMs.
Britney Spears' sister and former Nickelodeon star, Britney, took to her Instagram Story to share a particularly disturbing message that she received. The author called her a "white trash lotch", before stating that both her daughters should be sexually assaulted.
Fans also posted a screen capture of the message and saw that she replied by writing "That's terrible."
She wrote in text that she had attached to the grab: "I've gotten beyond [used] receiving the love and hate of strangers since the age of like 8 so growing up I had had to learn not to acknowledge the hate and to rise above it all and never give negativity the attention it so desperately needs."
She continued, "But this one is one I can't just ignore." "You might not love me and that's okay, but THIS should never be tolerated in any circumstance, especially with innocent underage children."
"I am blessed beyond measure and have so many things to be grateful for. She concluded, "I can't complain when I have so many more important things in this world. Let's do one kind thing today for someone else and just maybe that negativity will bring some positivity to someone who needs it."
Spears posted a list of places that her followers could donate, including BlackWomen’s Blueprint, Mutual Aid Louisiana and Mutual Aid Louisiana. She encouraged them to focus on the positive instead of the negative.
Spears shared an update on Tuesday morning with her followers, claiming that the sender of the infamous message had since apologized.
Spears stated that the person who posted those comments apologized and reached out to Spears. "I still find these comments absolutely atrocious, and inacceptable," Spears said.
She said, "But, maybe, by taking that second and trying to make a negative into something positive, it could have pointed to them to where they won't bully, shame, or be hateful of anybody else and that is the only change we can make."
She concluded that "fighting negative with negative is never going to win anything." Therefore, it's important to come from a positive place and not spread more bullying or hate. This is how we can make a difference. Keep that in mind.
Jamie Lynn has been the center of controversy in Britney's conservatorship scandal. Britney spoke out against Jamie Lynn in July 2021. She called her out for singing Brit's greatest hits during a tribute at 2017 Radio Disney Music Awards.
"I didn't like my sister performing MY SONGS to remixes at an awards show. My so-called support system hurt me deeply!!!!" Britney said at the time. Britney said at the time, "This conservatorship destroyed my dreams... so all that I have is hope. Hope is the only thing in the world that is very difficult to kill... but people still try."
Jamie Lynn previously stated her support for Britney and said she was only concerned about Britney's happiness during Britney's struggle for freedom. Britney has stopped following her sister on social media since the conservatorship ended.
