Miscavige, the wife of Church of Scientology leader David Miscavige, has not been seen in public since 2007.

Jerrod Carmichael stunned the 80th Golden Globes crowd with an exacerbating suggestion on what to do about Tom Cruise's Golden Globe trophies.

The "Top Gun: Maverick” star received his three awards in 2021 (wins for "Born on the Fourth of July", "Jerry Maguire" and "Magnolia") as a response to reports that the Hollywood Foreign Press Association had zero Black members.

Carmichael, who was holding three statuettes following a commercial break, said that they were the same three Cruise had "found" backstage.

He stated to the audience that he was only the host for a short time, or whatever. However, he had a pitch. "I think we could take these three things and swap them for Shelly Miscavige's safe return."

Jay Ellis and Glen Powell, stars of "Top Gun: Maverick", were then introduced to him. Jay was the next broadcast award. They glanced briefly at each other, but did not acknowledge it.

The audience took a while to process his words and was unsure of how to respond. Cruise is one of Scientology's most prominent and well-known members.

Shelly Miscavige was the wife of David Miscavige who is the leader of the group. Since 2007, she has not been seen in public. Shelly was reported missing by Leah Remini in 2013. She famously left Scientology.

Remini has been vocal in denouncing Scientology. She even hosted a series that covered 37 episodes about the Church of Scientology. From 2016 to 2019, "Leah Remini" aired "Scientology and the Aftermath".

Remini filed her paperwork within days. Within days, Los Angeles Police Department announced that they had found Remini and closed the case. Representatives of the Church of Scientology stated that she is still active in the church, and is currently living a private lifestyle.
