Jessica Simpson's Kids Don't Understand Public Scrutiny Over Her Weight, 'You Look Pretty'

Jessica Simpson's Kids Don't Understand Public Scrutiny Over Her Weight, 'You Look Pretty'

Jessica Simpson is having difficult conversations with her children about their body image, even though they are not sure why they seem to be so obsessed with Jessica's.

Jessica Simpson is a celebrity who has been in the limelight for many years. Her body and weight have been a major topic of discussion. She's now answering questions from her children about the obsession with her weight.

Raising children is hard enough without adding the additional layer of public scrutiny. In particular, daughters are quickly thrust into a world where everyone feels entitled to talk about their bodies. Jessica Simpson, 43 years old is still battling it.

"My children have seen me [still] under scrutiny and it is very confusing for them, because they are like, 'Well, I don't understand this. Why don't they say you look beautiful, Mom? You look beautiful," Simpson said to Access Hollywood Friday.

Simpson went on to say, "I wish I knew how to explain it." "I wish I had the words to say that, for me, things have gotten better, but they still remain the same, and I do not know why. But it's fine."

It's not okay. Simpson had to accept it as the way the world is, even though she wishes that things could be different.

She said, "I believe that we should focus more on our mindset than the weight. I think people are focusing on weight. "I don't think that it needs to be a discussion."

For now, however, it's a conversation that Simpson has at home, with her 11-year old daughter Maxwell. Simpson and Eric Johnson share a daughter Birdie (4 years old) and son Ace (10).

Simpson shared, "Maxwell is tallest among her classmates and she asks, 'Should i be insecure?' I am, like, that the fact you are asking me whether you should be secure means you absolutely shouldn't be. You are comfortable. You stay comfortable. And you can be yourself."

She and her husband said they have taught their children that "you don't dress for anyone else" or "try to look like anyone else." She said, "Truly, you don't have to be anyone [else]'s size."

"I think we should focus more on our mindset than on weight when it comes to even discussing weight."

Her weight loss journey has been the cause of Simpson's recent weight-related headlines. She revealed that she lost 100 pounds following the birth of Birdie. She knows how women are treated in public and behind closed doors when it comes their size.

She said, "I've been every size." "I understand every woman's mentality, how they deserve fashion and style, and I do it naturally, so I tell my children that how you feel is how you should be feeling."

Simpson denied publicly, just last month that she was using Ozempic (a drug for Type 2 Diabetes) to lose weight. Simpson told Bustle that she uses "willpower" to lose weight, not the drug.

"Am I to drink again?" The reason I gained weight was because of that. They want me to have another baby. My body can't do it."
