Jimmy Kimmel Live! The host of "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" revealed that he hadn't spoken with Will Smith since the incident, but reached out to Chris Rock.

Jimmy Kimmel shares his thoughts on last year's Oscars, as he prepares to host this year's awards ceremony for the third year.

The 55-year old late night host spoke out about Will Smith's famously brutal treatment of Chris Rock after he joked about Jada Pinkett Smith.

Kimmel stated that it was still shocking that this happened. It's shocking to see something like this happen other than on The Maury Povich show. The Oscars make it more shocking by making it happen ...."

He said, "It's something everyone regrets and we will move on." It will one day be looked upon in the same light as that man running naked on stage.

Although the "Jimmy Kimmel Live” star hasn’t spoken to Rock since the incident, Rock revealed that he reached out and complimented Rock on the way he handled it.

He said, "It's something Chris should be proud to do to get slapped in his face and to keep that cool." "Chris’s grandchildren, I believe, will still be proud about that when he's gone," he said.

Will took to Instagram to apologise for his actions shortly after the altercation between Chris and Will. Will made a long statement calling violence "poisonous" and "destructive" and calling his actions "unacceptable, and inexcusable." He explained that hearing about Jada's alopecia caused by her hair loss was too much for him and that he had "reacted emotionally."

Chris, I would like to publicly apologise to you. I was not in line with the rules and I was wrong. My actions are embarrassing and they do not reflect the man I want. Will said that violence is not allowed in a world where there is love and kindness.

Smith later apologized to the Academy, producers, viewers and his "King Richard' family. Smith won the award for Best Actor shortly after rock was slapped during the ceremony. He eventually resigned from Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Kimmel hosts the Oscars on Sunday, March 12, at 5:00 PM PDT.
