Joanna Gaines reveals the Top Kitchen Tools That She Doesn't Need

Joanna Gaines may be an expert in home improvement on Fixer Lower but her unending talent shines through in the heart and soul of the home, the Kitchen.

In an interview with Architectural Digest, Gaines explained how her kitchen should have a more casual feel. Gaines said, "When I enter a house, I have an end goal that I see in my mind and I will not stop until it happens." It is more relaxed to me when I am involved in the culinary world. I don't need to be perfect in the kitchen. After a long day at work, I'm ready to let go and allow the creative process to fuel me.

Gaines made sure that her kitchen was fully equipped when she designed it for Discovery's Magnolia Table. Gaines also discussed how kitchen essentials could contribute to the Gristmill's atmosphere, as the show was being filmed there. Gaines selected essential items to maintain the rustic, earthy feel.

This old piece of history is found in the Gristmill where the show is shot. Late 1800s. Gaines stated that when I was designing the design, I wanted it to remain true to its original form. We sanded all the beams that had been painted so that you could see the wood grain... then we updated it with new cabinets and brass hardware. It should feel textural, simple, and clean.
