Even years after its end, the sitcom Friends remains a favorite of many fans. Millions love the six actors and their characters. The show brought smiles and tears to many viewers' eyes.

Friends is a screenwriter, director and actor Jon Favreau, of Elf (2003) and Swingers (1996) fame, together with Joya Tillem, his future wife. This is what we know about their 22-year marriage.

Joya Tillem: Who are you?

The Jewish News of Northern California reports that Tillem is an internal medicine specialist based in Los Angeles. She graduated from Georgetown University School of Medicine in 1996.

Her family is a member of Congregation Shir Shalom, Cotati. Len Tillem is her brother and a lawyer. He hosts a weekend call in program on radio station KGO.

Favreau And Tillem Have Been Married Since 2000

Favreau and Tillem were reportedly reunited on the set of Friends during the mid-1990s when Favreau was Monica's boyfriend in a few episodes.

Favreau joked in LA Magazinein 2014. He said that Tillem, along with her mother, was initially impressed more by his Cadillac DeVille than his personality or his success.

They were married in Sonoma (California) on November 24, 2000. The couple has three children: Madelaine Rose, Max and Brighton Rose. Max was inspired by his father's Hollywood career and appeared as a young Peter Parker, Iron Man2.

Here's how they kept love alive for two decades

Favreau, Tillem have very demanding careers but they both value their time with one another and their children.

The family places religious faith high on their list of priorities. 18 Doors says Favreau's father was Catholic and his mother was Jewish. For The Los Angeles Jewish Journal, he described how religion was important to his family and how they incorporated different religious practices into their lives.

Favreau stated that "when I was growing up, we'd have the traditional Christmas Eve meal with my Catholic grandmother and then on Christmas morning, lox and bagels would be served with my Jewish family.

It was always pleasant to observe Christmas in the Favreau family until 1979. Madeleine Favreau (Jon's mother) was admitted to the hospital shortly before Christmas 1979.

Jon, then 12 years old, thought she had an ulcer. Unfortunately, she had leukemia. Favreau's father brought Favreau to see her. Tragically, however, she had already died.

Favreau was devastated by the loss of his mother. It was even more difficult to lose her at Christmas. He said that he felt as though he had lost his mother and Christmas over the years.

He discovered ways to cope and heal. In tribute to his mother, he gave his daughter Madelaine her name. According to reports, he has done fundraising for the Jewish Television Network. He also attends synagogue services.

They support each other

Like many famous couples, each spouse will be there for the other during both good and bad times. Favreau and Tillem have this in common, which is surely a factor in their long-lasting marriage.

People reported in 2007 that Favreau, nearing 40 years old, weighed nearly 300 pounds. He was understandably worried. Tillem confided that "[T]his weight is not what my body wants." Her medical background allowed her to provide her own nutrition and help him eat healthy. He lost 85 pounds.

Joya Tillem and Jon Favreau are more than just a couple. They have a loving relationship. They are a couple who share everything, put their family and relationship first, and never let professional success overwhelm them. They are refreshingly different from Hollywood's superficial glamour.
