Kate Gosselin had previously called Collin a "violent young man" after he claimed to have made a claim about her in VICE's Dark Side of 2000s.
Colleen Conrad'sex girlfriend, Jon Gosselin, has spoken out against "derogatory remarks" made recently about the reality star’s son Collin Gosselin.
Conrad, who dated Jon between 2014 and 2021, took to Instagram to defend Collin after Jon's former wife, Kate Gosselin released a statement regarding the 19-year old's mental state, in which she described Collin as "violent" ad a "very disturbed young man".
Colleen posted a long caption with a collage of pictures of her and Collin.
She began, "I learned recently of derogatory remarks made about Collin Gosselin. I felt compelled by my duty to defend him." "These statements were made from family members who had been separated from him since he was 12 years old. Collin has not only been someone I cherish, but also a major figure in the life of my family. He's currently in boot camp for Marines, and he can't defend himself."
Conrad said, "After Jon separated from me and Jon moved away, Collin lived in my house until he was 18 years old, so I saw him everyday." "He was kind and respectful and thrived. He never spoke back to me. He is not dangerous and was never violent. He is always there when I need, and brings me white roses each time he comes."
She said that she could "tag a multitude people who have spent some time with Collin and they would attest to his amazing character," adding that the reality star has "overcome more challenges than anyone should have to endure."
Conrad added, "Despite not being able to receive a proper education and only having 3 visits from his mom during the 3 years he was institutionalized, he managed to achieve a GPA of 4.0 and win the highest GPA at his ROTC dinner." "I am so proud of all his achievements.
Conrad then praised Collin, saying that he had achieved his "dream" to be in the Marines. He also claimed that the teenager underwent psychiatric assessments "that disproved the previous diagnoses."
She wrote: "Collin’s dream of joining the Marines was impossible, given his past. But he never quit." "He stopped taking all medications two years ago, and has continued to excel in school and at work. As an adult, he sought out private psychiatric assessments that proved all previous diagnoses wrong. His determination led him to join the Marines where he is now living his dream. He wouldn't have made it to the Marines if he had not proven those diagnoses incorrect."
Conrad added, "I've received letters from Collin while he was in boot camp. He admits it is challenging but is happy and proud of being there. He is an example of strength and courage. I am proud to have him as a part of my life.
She ended her post with her support and love for Collin. "Collin is always a part of my family and I will support him no matter what happens to us." It's part of what family does. "The truth about Collin’s character is worthy of praise and not unfounded allegations from those who are estranged from him."
Jon, 46 years old, sent a message to people through his representative in which he thanked Conrad for the post.
The statement said: "Jon is delighted to see Colleen finally coming out to publicly support his son Collin," "Jon has remained close to Colleen and will always appreciate her involvement in coparenting Collin."
Conrad's blog post follows Kate's statement released in response to Collin’s comments made by him last month when he appeared on VICE’s docuseries The Dark Side of 2000s.
Collin and Hannah talked abouttheir experience of living with their mother after their parents separated.
Collin was only 12 years old in 2016 when his mother sent him to live-in facility for learning. She claimed that he had "special" needs. The 19-year old -- who is his most vocal sibling when it comes to family -- confronted his mother in the documentary for placing him at the facility. He accused her of unfairly treating him as a young child. He admitted that he was not a "perfect" child, but said his misbehavior was no different than his siblings. He believes Kate unfairly blamed him because she was "going through a lot" at the moment.
Collin continued, "I mean a divorce is not easy. There are so many other things to deal with." "And you know, it's possible that she was looking for someone to vent her frustration and anger on. I think I was being kind. I was in her way and I was present. "She chose me."
Kate shared the truth about Collin after Collin's "tell-all" interview. She claimed that Collin was unpredictable and had violent outbursts often.
"My son Collin whom I love to the core has had multiple psychiatric diagnosis over the years. "For the safety of my family, his siblings and myself and his well-being, I placed him in a facility after years of outpatient therapy which proved inadequate for his needs," wrote she in a written statement.
She added, "Unfortunately I think Collin is still a troubled young person who needs a lot more help." We haven't been involved with his life because of his unpredictable behavior and violent tendencies.
Jon responded by calling Kate's statements "false allegations" and claiming that even after not seeing her child for years, she "couldn't control her abusive language towards him."
