We all love Judge Judy. Also known as Judith Sheindlin as the tough and rough personality from the daytime reality show of the same title, we all know her. Judge Judy was so beloved, it remained on air for 25 years. Sheindlin became one of the most successful TV personalities ever. She is still as strong in 2022. Judge Judy's Early Legal Career

Sheindlin's path led her to a very different place than most judges. Sheindlin started out as a regular student of law with the goal of making the courtrooms more efficient for the greater good.

Sheindlin, before she became Judge Judy, was born Judith Susan Blum, October 21, 1942, in Brooklyn, New York. American University gave her her degree in 1963. After graduating from American University, she went on to American University's Washington College of Law. She was the only female student in her 126-student cohort. She completed her law degree at New York Law School.

In 1965, she received her law degree and began working as a corporate lawyer for a cosmetics company. However, she quickly realized that this wasn't the right role for her. Sheindlin resigned in her first two years with the firm to be at home with her children, Jamie (and Adam)

She was appointed a New York Family Court System prosecutor in 1972. She was responsible for prosecuting juvenile crimes and domestic violence cases.

Sheindlin was appointed by Ed Koch, the New York City mayor, to be a judge at the New York City family court in 1982. Sheindlin was promoted to the position of supervising judge in Manhattan's family court division four years later.

Following the piece, a profile was created about her courtroom tactics in 60 minutes 1993. Her media attention and fame eventually led her agent to pitch the idea of Sheindlin's own courtroom TV program.

Sheindlin resigned from the family court in September 1996 and Judge Judy was created. The reality court show featured small-claims court cases in a simulated courtroom. This series was the first to be created in this genre. Sheindlin's tough personality combined with his humorous quips made this show entertaining and fun. Judge Judy was the #1 slot for syndicated series by February 1999. Judge Judy was a strong competitor to The Oprah Winfrey show. This made Judge Judy one of the most popular daytime TV shows in history.

Scheindlin is a hard worker who has done a lot over her lifetime. However, Scheindlin also enjoys taking time out to relax and enjoying life. Sheindlin owns six properties across the United States and has an impressive portfolio of real estate. Her main residence is a $13.2 million Greenwich, Connecticut mansion. Two homes she owns in Naples, Florida are her primary residence. The first is a $11 million penthouse that has its own lagoon. The second is a nearby $8.6million mansion where she can host her extended family during vacations.

Judge Judy invented courtroom reality TV almost entirely by herself. This changed the way the public perceives the US court system. We would all be afraid to sit in a courtroom with Sheindlin as a judge, but we wish she continues fighting for justice and runs her courtroom in style for many more years.
