Julie Chen Claims Two 'Talk' Cohosts Refused to Work with Her Amid #MeToo Allegations: 'They Did Me So Dirty'

Julie Chen Claims Two 'Talk' Cohosts Refused to Work with Her Amid #MeToo Allegations: 'They Did Me So Dirty'

Chen's new audiobook reveals the actions of her co-hosts that led to her leaving The Talk... and also touches on the allegations against Les Moonves, her husband.

In her new book, Julie Chen Moonves reveals her departure from The Talk, claiming that two of her co-hosts gave an ultimatum to the network about her appearance on the show after sexual misconduct accusations against her husband Les Moonves.

In her audiobook “But First, God," Chen Moonves provided some additional insight into what was allegedly going on behind the scenes when she announced that she would be leaving the talk show only nine days after Les resigned from CBS due to assault and harassment allegations.

In Chapter 1, she speaks of her husband, and the allegations made against him.

He had a long and successful career at CBS. She wrote that a movement started shortly before 2018 in an attempt to merge CBS with another media company. "My husband was against the merger and while he worked against it, misconduct allegations from decades ago arose against him. That is when he, CBS, came to an understanding to separate."

She added, "11 months after leaving CBS, the merger he opposed did happen." Moonves admitted to The New Yorker he had three sexual encounters with Ronan Farrow, but claimed they were consenting. Chen has always been supportive of her husband.

She continued by saying that "the decision was made for [me]." In the book she explains her departure in more detail, stating that it happened "when my and my husband's lives were turned upside-down."

"I was ready to launch Season 9 and get back to my work." She claimed that the day before the premiere, I received a phone call. I was informed that because my husband and I were in the news and there was so much chaos, my two co-hosts had called CBS to say, "If Julie comes to work tomorrow, then we won't be coming in." "I was told to 'please don't work at The Talk anymore'."

Chen Moonves admitted that leaving the show was "really gutting" for her.

"I was furious." She said, "I was angry, frustrated, felt robbed and wronged." "I felt that so many people I trusted and loved or thought of as friends did me such dirty things. I was bitter then, but I'm not the same person I am now. I thank Jesus for this.

She said that in the years that have passed since she left, she has spoken to the two cohosts that allegedly complained against her. She said, "Truly everything is forgiven."

Chen is happy that the show continues to air, and in retrospect she knows leaving the show behind was "not only the right thing, but the only one to do."

Julie continues to host Big Brother on CBS. Her audiobook is now available.
