Julie Chen Says Sharon Osbourne's Exit from 'The Talk' Was a 'Mess,' Handled 'Really Horribly'

Julie Chen Says Sharon Osbourne's Exit from 'The Talk' Was a 'Mess,' Handled 'Really Horribly'

Andy Cohen asked Chen, during an appearance on WWHL to reveal which cohosts had allegedly complained against her before she left, with whom she spoke and her feelings about the N word controversy on Big Brother this season.

Julie Chen Moonves has been put on the hot seat in Watch what Happens Live.

In the episode of Tuesday, Andy Cohen asked the TV host some difficult questions. She was asked about the reasons for her departure from The Talk as well as her relationship with her former colleagues. She also discussed her feelings on Sharon Osbourne being fired from the show, and her opinion on the recent racism controversy surrounding Big Brother.

We'll talk about Sharon's comments in a moment, but hers about Sharon were quite interesting. The comments came after a caller asked about their last conversation and her feelings.

Underwood asked Osbourne about her defense of Piers Moors in 2021 after he attacked Meghan markle for her explosive interview with Oprah winfrey. Underwood said that some people viewed Morgan’s attacks against Markle as being racist. Osbourne, however, demanded proof, and was concerned about coming across as racist by defending Morgan. Osbourne then "decided" to leave the show after an internal investigation and a hiatus.

Chen Moonves said on Bravo, "We probably texted before then, maybe eight months prior to that. I saw a photo of Kelly looking healthy and beautiful, and I reached out." "I thought the whole situation was handled horribly. I was shocked by her departure." It was very sad.

Chen expressed her dissatisfaction with the "production" of Sheryl's and Sharon's show after Andy suggested that they "should have talked it out on TV" instead of taking a break and Osbourne leaving.

I don't think it was produced in a way that... "I don't believe people knew what they did and got themselves into," added she. The whole thing was a terrible mess. It was like watching a train crash.

Chen Moonves addressed her own exit from the show in 2018, which occurred just days after her spouse resigned from CBS due to allegations of assault and harassment. She's also shifted her focus to religion in the years following, which she discusses in detail in her audiobook, " but first, God," , in which she also places the blame for her departure on some of her cohosts.

She said, "It wasn't my decision that I lost my job at The Talk, but rather me. "That wasn't my decision. Two of my cohosts told the head of CBS Daytime that they would not be there if she appeared at the season opener.

Chen Moonves replied, "I can't speak for them." When asked if the unnamed co-hosts were angry with her for standing by her husband, Chen Moonves responded, "I'm not sure, I don't have any idea."

Now that I have met Jesus, everything is a distant memory. She continued by revealing to whom she still talks. It's good, Aisha. Sheryl and me have been texting for hours every so often. Eve has moved back to London and had a child, so we stay in touch. "And Leah Remini," said she.

Chen Moonves addressed her past beefs with Remini -- , which she also reveals in detail in her new book - and said that her former cohost as well as "some other people" were also trying to rid her of her Season 1 role. She said they complained about her to higher-ups and were later told: "You are not one of us. You're trying produce us and the show. You need to be one of the other girls. They had more fun when I left."

Chen Moonves said that there was never any talk about her leaving Big Brother when she left The View. "It wasn't The network who took The Talk away from me, but two of the females."

Is it simple to identify who these two people are? Andy asked, hoping to get more tea from his guest. She replied, "That's irrelevant, Andy", adding that Jesus loved them just as much as Jesus loved her.

Chen Moonves also was asked during the after-show about Luke Valentine who casually used a racial epithet while speaking with a group of Houseguests from different races earlier in this season. He was immediately booted off the show.

She said, "I'm not at those meetings, but I heard it happened and I thought 'Gotta Go'." "You must have zero tolerance. Even if it was the intention of the person, you cannot condone this. This is not acceptable. "Go and grow."

Chen's audiobook can be downloaded now.

Julie Chen felt 'betrayed' when Leah Remini didn't speak to her for eight years.
