They confirmed the engagement after they had "just gone through this really difficult thing," and shared that it was a natural proposal.

Justin Long and Kate Bosworth confirmed it: They are getting married!

A month after they met on the red carpet at the 2023 Vanity Fair Oscar Party, where Kate flashed a huge rock on her finger, the pair confirmed their engagement in the Long's Life Is Short podcast.

This news comes just a month after Bosworth divorced Michael Polish, her ex-husband. She was married to Polish from 2013 until 2021. While filming "House of Darkness," 2021, Long met her.

Bosworth stated on the podcast, "We are embarking upon a new chapter."

"Yes, we are. People are asking about Catherine's ring because she wore it when I proposed to her.

"We just decided that we were going to live our lives and I am gonna wear my ring and we are gonna celebrate and there will be photos out, hopefully people will see," Bosworth said. She acknowledged that the red carpet moment led to "a lot speculation" and she wanted to clarify it by appearing on her husband's podcast. Although Long had originally planned how he would propose, Bosworth said that life had other plans for them. So the plan was changed.

"I had a plan, but it didn’t feel natural. Long said that this was not her style. "I had a special event planned around your birthday, but about a month prior, life changed, and sometimes they change quite drastically without any warnings," Long said.

Long stated that they were going through something very, very deeply and profoundly personal, adding that they were dealing with a difficult situation shortly before they proposed. Bosworth apologised for not being "vague in referencing this difficult thing" and promised they would talk about it "one of these days." He then shared how he proposed.

"But, we had just been through this really difficult thing and had spoken with a therapist and were trying to move forward at the time. She gave us a great piece of advice: Make sure you're asking each other what you need or asking them what they need."

"I can remember waking up in the mornings not too many days after that therapy session. I looked at Justin, and I said, "What do you need?" I can remember smiling at you and saying, "What do you want?" He looked at me, and he said, "To spend my entire life with you." "And I smiled, and I said, "Well, yeah, that's what you have." He said, "Oh my goodness, you have that," and I smiled.

He said, "It was easy... the words just flowed so naturally." She added that it was "the most romantic, honest and loving proposal."

Long said that he had asked her father for his blessing. He was able to do so.

He said, "It was ironic that I had labored over [the proposition], and this was the way I was going do it." It should just flow out naturally.

They continued to love each other, and Bosworth stated that "there's safety" in their union. She said, "You make me feel my best every day, in all sincerity." You are my best friend.
