Katharine McPhee Calls Russell Brand Resurfaced Clip 'Harmless', Amid Sexual Assault Allegations Against Actor

McPhee responded to the clip by writing, "I don't know what you're trying to say here, but this incident happened over ten years ago and was harmless."

Katharine MacPhee speaks out in response to a recently resurfaced video of her with actor-comedian Russell Brand.

In the clip from 2013, McPhee was introduced as a special guest on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon when Brand sat in her place.

McPhee sits on Brand's lap instead of moving to the second chair.

He quips, "Katharine can sit here."

Brand then wraps his arms around the American Idol actress, hugging her before yelling, "for the Queen" and suggestingly bouncing the actress on his lap as she attempts to get up and grab the second seat.

Both were laughing at the time despite McPhee's shock. Many viewers who saw the clip thought that Brand had made the actress uncomfortable.

Jimmy Fallon, the host at the time of the incident, even defended McPhee by urging Brand to sit down and turn his back to the smash star.

Russell, please stop. Fallon tells Brand to look away. Brand later comments on McPhee, calling her "very attractive."

McPhee responded to comments made by the Daily Mail after the publication posted a screenshot with the caption "She looks so uneasy." McPhee said that the interaction had been "harmless."

McPhee wrote: "Daily Mail - I have no idea what you're trying to say here, but this incident happened over ten years ago and was harmless." Please don't use me to achieve your goals.

The clip has been resurfaced as Brand is facing a number of sexual assault accusations. A Channel 4's "DispatchesTV Special" and the UK's Sunday Timesboth claim that "several" women have made allegations against Brand between 2006 and 2013.

Brand has denied the accusations, and blamed the "mainstream press" for "a litany of astounding, rather baroque" attacks against him.

TooFab has contacted Brand and McPhee's representatives for comments.
