"As I grew older I began to wonder if this was it, or if it was luck."
Ke Huy Quan, the first Golden Globe Award winner of the evening, won the Best Supporting Actor trophy for his role in "Everything Everywhere All At Once."
The emotional moment was a big one for the ex-child star who, after making his debut in films like "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom", and "The Goonies," made his big return in the film.
As he accepted his award, he stated that he was taught to remember where he came from and to be grateful for the opportunity to help others. "I am so happy to be able to see Steven Spielberg tonight. Thank you!"
He continued, "When I began my career as a child actor [in the Spielberg-directed] "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom," I felt so lucky to be chosen." As I grew up, I began to wonder if this was the end, or if it was luck. I felt like I didn't have anything to offer for so many years. I knew that no matter how hard I tried, I could never match what I accomplished as a child.
He said that directors Daniel Kwan, and Daniel Scheinert had thought of him for this project.
He said that "they remembered that child and gave me the opportunity to try again," before going on to say thanks to "the most important person in his life" -- his wife, who he said "never lost faith" in.
He concluded, "I love you with my whole heart,"
Quan won this award in addition to the 2022 New York Film Critics Circle Award. Is an Oscar possible? Fingers crossed!
