Kelly Clarkson Says Using Anti-Depressants Amid Divorce Was 'Greatest Decision Ever'

Clarkson opens about taking Lexapro for 2 months and says, "I would not have survived" her divorce without the drug.

Kelly Clarkson shares her experience of anti-depressants, and how they helped after her divorce with ex-husband Brandon Blackstock.

The singer opened up on the podcast, La Culturistas w/ Matt Rogers & Bows Yang where she spoke about her mental struggles after the split.

Clarkson has previously spoken out about her therapy during divorce. "I said, 'I had to cancel some appointments the other day as I couldn't keep from crying.' I can't do this.

She explained, "It was a situation where I had to really put my pride and all my childhood issues aside."

Kelly Clarkson Show host then revealed that she had also been on antidepressants to help her through this rough patch.

Clarkson, 41, shared that she was taking Lexapro "for about two months." "I just can't seem to smile for America anymore right now." "I'm not happy, and I need help."

She added, "It was the best decision I've ever made." "I couldn't have done it [without it]"

Clarkson and Blackstock were married in 2013 before splitting up in 2020. They share a daughter River Rose (9 years old) and a son Remington (7 years old). After the separation, a turbulent legal battle ensued before their divorce and custody agreements were finalized in 2020. The two share a daughter River Rose, 9, and son Remington 7, respectively.
