Kevin Bacon, the star of Footloose, has also launched a new podcast called Six Degrees With Kevin Bacon

Kevin Bacon shares the secret of his 35-year marriage to Kyra Sewick... sort of.

The Footloose star revealed in a recent interview with TODAY that there's no secret to their love.

"No secret. Bacon jokingly said, "Never have a secret." The secret is to not ask celebrities how to stay together.

The 65-year old actor, despite his jokes, credited his family for helping him to see beyond himself and become more interested in the world.

"I was a teenager when I moved to New York. To become an actor, you need to have a certain level of self-involvement, a very deep self-involvement. I had it. Bacon recalls, "I was really focused on myself and less on the rest of the world."

Bacon's perspective changed after he married Sedgwick and started a family. The couple has two children: Travis, 34, Sosie, 31, and Sosie.

He said, "Once you shift your perspective in this way, you begin to see the many issues that are outside yourself and your desire for fame and money and to acquire things," he shared.

These issues led Kevin Bacon to create his non-profit sixDegrees.Org in 2007. The idea was that everyone is only six degrees away from him. His podcast SixDegrees with Kevin Bacon also plays on this game.

Bacon hopes that the new podcast, which features celebrity interviews, will not only inspire listeners to learn but also to realize how interconnected we all are despite our differences.

The idea that we are all connected on this planet as humans is a wonderful concept. We are always looking for ways to connect with one another. If we can remember that as people and stewards of this planet, we're all connected, we will take better care of eachother, Bacon said.

Bacon said that if the actress and environmentalist wanted to raise children together, "in the simplest of terms, suddenly there is someone you would step in front a bus for." It's (the) willingness to do anything for them."

Bacon said that he and Sedgwick's son and daughter being good people was the "greatest success" they have experienced as parents.
