One man who saw the video allegedly said: "There was someone bleeding out. [He was] standing over that person, repeating Bible passages and other kinds of incoherent rubbish."
A man accused in the murder of a woman from San Mateo California posted a video of the crime on Facebook. This led to his arrest.
According the San Mateo Police Department they received a phone call from the sheriffs of Nevada after someone reported that they had witnessed an "assault" on social media and gave them the name and number of the person posting the video.
Mark Mechikoff (39), a Pacifica resident, was identified as the suspect.

Another person who saw the video - Ryan Lenahan - told KTVU that "there was a bleeding person. [He was] standing over him, repeating Bible passages and other incoherent nonsense."
Lenahan claimed that he had called Mechikoff a "sick person" and said "I hope you are in custody" after seeing the video. He then received a call from the suspect a couple of hours later. Lenahan said that Mechikoff was "just talking all sorts babble" and appeared to be at the exact same place where the crime occurred. He then received a phone call from the suspect two hours later.
Lenahan told me that he then called the local police.
Sheriffs in Nevada traced Mechikoff’s phone to a large San Mateo apartment complex, CA. This led them to contact the PD for the area. San Mateo officers searched the apartment complex for "almost 3 hours" without knowing the exact apartment number.
According to police, "officers identified a possible link and located a deceased" in her home; the suspect was already gone. The police knew Mechikoff was involved and could still track his phone. They found him in two hours, arrested him without incident, and had him detained. Mechikoff, according to police, "had known" his victim. NBC Bay Area also reported that he had the murder weapon in his possession when he was arrested.
In a press statement, police stated that "While the motive of stabbing the victim remains under investigation, it is known that Mechikoff mercilessly recorded the last moments in the victim's lifetime and then posted the video on Facebook before fleeing the area."
According to ABC News the victim has been identified as Claribel Esterella. The DA’s office plans to charge Mechikoff, meanwhile with a single murder count with enhancements due to the infliction of great bodily harm and use of a blade.
The San Mateo Police Department PIO said NBC Bay Area that the video was "pretty hideous". "Not only did he post a video, but he also posted a picture of the victim who ultimately died. That is very disturbing."
