According to a number of his children, the Sister Wives patriarch was not able to pay equal attention to each one.
You can see from watching "Sister Wives," that tensions are rising between Kody and his family.
Three of his wives, Christine, Janelle, and Meri, have ended their relationship with him. Some of his children, however, have severed their ties with their father. Among all the drama in Kody's family, some of his children have come out against him and said not so flattering things.
What some of Kody's children have to say about him
Gwendlyn Brown
Gwendlyn, one of Kody's children with Christine, is very vocal about her feelings towards her family. Gwendlyn Brown has been candidly reflecting on every episode of "Sister Wives" over the past season. She hasn't hidden her feelings towards her father. Gwendlyn said that she found it difficult to see Kody being a "active father" with his two children, which he shares together with Robyn.
Gwendlyn stated, "I'm sure I should be happy that he is a good father to these children but it hurts me to see him act like a father. It's awful that I'm making it about myself but I hurt so much seeing him as a good dad to other kids when I didn't get much. I know I should feel happy for them, and I do. I'm happy that they have a father who is active and a good one.
She went on to say, "I didn't understand that and I can't recall that." I don't recall coming home from Kindergarten and seeing my father and him be happy that I had eaten all my lunch, or that I had made a new friend at school. It was my mom, and I am so glad I have her. But it was never my father and I regret that he wasn't there more.
Gabriel Brown
Gabriel Brown, the brother of Kody and his ex-wife Janelle who appears in recent seasons' "Sister Wives", has spoken out about his relationship with his father. The tension between him and his father reached a boiling point when Kody forgot to remember his birthday. Gabriel reflects on the incident and says that Kody called on his birthday, but only to gather information on how to treat COVID.
"I should not have done this, but I did it anyway -- I didn’t remind him of my birthday because I was curious to see if I could get him to remember. He didn't. He said that to him, it was just a simple phone call asking about Covid.
He added, "It was worse than a simple phone call," with tears in his eyes. "But yeah, after that he called me back to wish me a happy birthday, and to make amends. That was the last time I spoke to my father."
Paedon brown
Paedon, one of Kody's and Christine's 18 children, says that he did not get to spend enough time with his father. Paedon Brown, who is one of Kody and Christine's sons, admitted that as the youngest child in the family he didn't get enough time with his father.
He said that he tried to concentrate on the younger children. "When another child is born, I won't say favorite, but I'll give the best example. "With a new baby he had to protect."
He said, "He loved us still, but Logan was the oldest child and not the youngest. It's no problem. He wanted to make the world a better place for younger children. We all had the opportunity to know him as we grew up. All of us got to spend time with him. But the youngest child got more.
Paedon revealed that Kody had once asked TLC to enforce a contract that prevented the family from talking negatively outside the show. The network did not agree.
Ysabel brown
Ysabel, the 20-year old daughter of Kody and Christine Brown, claims that she is no longer close to her father. Kody's refusal to accompany her for her scoliosis operation due to COVID concerns changed their relationship. Ysabel says she was disappointed in her father's decision.
She said at the time, "I think that his priorities are a bit messed up." "I don't disrespect him, because he's my dad. I understand. I understand what he is doing, but it's really frustrating and hard.
Ysabel admitted to her father that by the time she went to college, the next year, they had become distant. Her dad also refused to accompany her to school to help her get settled.
I don't think we are close. But he is still my father," Ysabel said about her parents, before she left for college.
Mykelti Brown
Mykelti, one of Kody's and Christine Brown's daughters, said she supported her mom's separation from her father. Mykelti Brown admits that she felt "relieved" when she learned Christine was ending the relationship.
"I was relieved to hear that my mother was leaving my father. They are not happy. She said, "They're not in Love," on an episode "Sister Wives" with her husband Tony. "I thought it would be inevitable." I can't think of a man who is perfect enough to have four wives.
