She also shared how hair extensions saved her own life.
Kristin Chenoweth has spoken out about her regrets at not taking legal action after she was hurt on "The Good Wife's" set in 2012.
The 54-year old Tony Award-winning actress, who was appearing on "Watch What Happens Live" Monday, recalled the terrifying incident that brought her to the hospital while filming for the CBS drama series.
Chenoweth was struck by an item of lighting equipment while on-set. She eventually had to leave the show because of the severity of her injuries.
"I heard a flagpole sound. "We are losing the light," I literally heard. I heard the word, "Action." "And I woke up in Bellevue [Hospital]," she retold the sequence of events. It hit me in my face and threw it into a curb. A seven-inch skull fracture, hairline [fracture], teeth and ribs.
Looking back, the "Wicked” alum regretted her decision to not sue the network.
"I didn’t do it out fear and anxiety. Don’t let fear control your life." Chenoweth admitted that she has long-standing injuries due to this. "I wish I had listened more to my father, who said, ‘You’re gonna wanta do that.' We're not the suing relatives, but when you're literally dead
The Emmy Award winner revealed the unexpected saving grace that saved her life that day.
She continued, "My hair extensions made the hairline fracture go together," she said. "My doctor asked me, 'What metal things are they?' "My doctor asked me, "What are these metal things?" I replied, "They're hair extensions." He said, "They saved my life." For your health, everyone should consider hair extensions.
Chenoweth is not the first to openly discuss her traumatic past. In a 2022 essay collection, "106 Women Fighting for Their Rights", she previously spoke out about her accident.
"I'm telling my story, and I don't care if CBS doesn't hire me again. They knew that I was badly hurt, but they used the power they had over someone like me. She wrote that she was a working actor. "Unfortunately, CBS did not accept responsibility for my accident. However, there is a new CBS regime and they are just wonderful to work with. Leadership is important. "Full stop."
CBS reported that a "gust of wind" had caused the lighting silk to move and struck the actress. They added that "all of us at CBS and the show are thinking of Kristin" and wish her a speedy recovery.
