Leah's daughters were upset when she told them about her father's homophobic remarks. One of the girls said that she did not want to "be around someone who's going to judge people", before they went to Pride.
Leah Messer thought about cutting her father out of her life completely after he made homophobic comments about the LGBTQIA+ Community.
While the teen mom: The next chapter actress has been estranged with her father Gary, she reached him in a previous episode to ask if he was considering going into rehab. He said that he did not like California because it was "too into f ------" and q -----,". This shocked Messer as well as viewers.
She revealed what she had texted to him after the conversation.
You embarrassed me in public and hurt me deeply. She wrote, "Some of my closest friends who have supported me throughout my life are gay." If you knew me at all, you'd know this.
She added, "But in truth you don't really know me or how it feels to be loved." "Breaks me heart, but it's not my responsibility." "I didn't ask for this world to be brought into my life."
She told her friend that "as ally to the LGBTQ community", she felt "some kind of responsibility" to educate him. Messer said that he did not instill these beliefs into her as a child and that her mother also didn't do so. She said that she didn't want her children to have the same beliefs as hers, and then revealed how she planned to take her daughters to Charleston Pride.
Leah later sat with twins Aliannah (12) and Aleeah (12), to tell them about her father's remarks. She said, "It angered me because it's not the way I raised you two or how your fathers raised you."
Leah also said that she did not want to be with someone who was going to judge others. When Aleeah questioned whether she would "cut him off," Messer replied, "Yeah."
"He's not been around for this long. "He says he wants us to have him in our lives, but that includes our gay friends and family members. We are and will remain allies to the LGBTQ community," she told her daughters.
Then, she emphasized the importance of protesting and said that this is "how you are heard" as a friend. She then asked the girls if the wanted to attend the Pride celebrations with her. Both girls were into it, and they all went to the parade together with Messer’s youngest daughter Addie.
In a confessional, Messer stated that it was important to show love and support.
She continued, "I truly believe that my daughters will reflect on experiences like these and understand why they are important for the future." "I believe they see us as allies to the LGBT community." It shows that we are fighting for equality and standing up to those who take away their rights.
