"Saying goodbye to you at the end last season broke my hearts. Today's news, however, has broken his heart all over again," wrote his former co judge.
Len Goodman is remembered by his "Dancing with the Stars'" co-stars.
A statement released by his manager Jackie Gill Monday morning stated that the former chief judge had died after a long battle with cancer of the bones. Goodman, who died in a hospice near Kent, England surrounded by loved ones at his last moments. He was 78.
Goodman's co-stars and fellow judges took to social media following the news to share their fondest moments with the professional dancers. They also paid tribute to Goodman's legacy, both on "Dancing with the Stars", and BBC's Strictly Come Dancing. Goodman was a judge for DWTS since its first season in 2005. He announced his retirement in 2022.
Bruno Tonioli captioned an Instagram photo of him and #lengoodman smiling and embracing. "Heartbroken [sic] My dear friend and partner for the past 19 years, the one and only Ballroom Legend #lengoodman has passed away," Bruno Tonioli wrote. "I will treasure the memory of our incredible adventures and hundreds of shows we did together @bbcstrictly @dancingwiththestars."
He added, "We will miss you Bruno. There will never be another like you."
Carrie Ann Inaba shared a video that included a series a playful memories with Goodman.
"A Dancer. A dancer. A gentleman of distinction. A great storyteller A special soul. A mentor. A mentor. In her caption, she called the TV personality "A treasured friend".
"At the end of the last season, saying goodbye broke my heart. Today's news has broken my heart all over again. I can't imagine that you are gone. ", she said. You were unique, my dear friend. "I will hold our memories close and cherish them, as I mourn your loss with so many others."
Inaba thanked Goodman for "all that you shared with me," including "your wit, your humor, and your wisdom."
She concluded, "Until we meet again ..., rest in peace Len."
Tom Bergeron, the former DWTS host, also shared a beautiful photo collage showing the couple over the years. "A good man, indeed. He wrote "#rip".
Piers Morgan, a broadcaster from the UK, paid tribute to Goodman on Twitter by posting a picture of him dancing with the former judge. The 58-year old broadcaster acknowledged that the two "swapped some strong opinions," but he also reflected on his good times with the reality star, calling him "a top bloke."
He tweeted: "RIP Len Goodman - 78 – welder and dancer. Judge. Cricket & West Ham Fan. "Always shared a good laugh and exchanged a few strong views with Len." "A quintessential Londoner, and a great guy."
Craig Revel Horwood, the judge of "Strictly come Dancing", tweeted: "I just woke up to sad news about my beautiful colleague and dear friend Len Goodman's passing." "My love and heart go out to his beautiful Sue and her family. Len Goody Goodman was what I called him, and 'It is a ten for Len & seveeeeern" will always be with me. RIP Len."
Kym Johnson Herjavec, a dancer from the UK, also paid tribute to Goodman by taking a picture of them outside a trailer.
She recalled: "Heartbroken Heavens Gates are covered with 10 paddles today and mirror balls." Nothing made you happier than a 10 from Len. He was a gentleman with a cheeky smile and quick wit. You will be missed. Rest In Peace sweet Len."
Keo Motsepe, a professional dancer, posted his own tribute to Sir Len and captioned it "Rest Well Sir Len." You will be greatly missed.
Mark Cuban, a former DWTS contestant, also posted, "RIP Len Goodman. You are a legendary who made people all over the world dance and smile." Season 3 winner Emmitt shared, "Woke this morning to the sad news that Len Goodman passed away. To a judge and good person, with great respect and love. Condolences for his family! Dance in heaven my friend."
