Leonard Bernstein’s children have stepped into the Maestro controversy, defending Bradley Cooper despite backlash over his portrayal of composer.
The Bernstein family has come to Cooper's defense. While online critics have criticized Cooper for wearing a prosthetic for the role despite him being a non-Jew.
The children signed a statement on Twitter and Instagram that said, "Bradley Cooper took us all along with him as he created his film about our dad."
The statement continued, "We were deeply moved by his dedication, his love for our father's music and his open-hearted enthusiasm in his exploration."
Cooper's family said that they supported his portrayal of the composer and even his decision to wear a prosthetic nose.

They assured that their father would also have approved. "We see any strident complaints about this issue as disingenuous efforts to bring down a successful individual -- a practice that we have seen all too often committed against our father."
The family was filled with love for Cooper, the production of Maestro and the portrayal their loved ones.

Cooper is both the star and director of Maestro, which follows 2019's A Star is Born. The film will follow Bernstein's legendary career as a composer and his relationship to Felicia Montealegre (Carey Mulligan), played by Carey Mulligan.
The teaser shows the couple through their life together, and the transition between black and whit scenes and beautiful colorful moments seems to explore the relationship that the couple shared during the career of the legendary composer.
Maestro is set to be released on Netflix and in selected theaters from November 22.
Matt Bomer, Maya Hawke and Jeremy Strong will also appear in the film. Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg and others are producing the film.
