A TikTok video shows that a Tourette-syndrome sufferer, Capaldi, experienced tics during a performance in Frankfurt. Capaldi turned away from the microphone as his neck and shoulder started to tingle. The audience stepped in immediately to help him and began singing the lyrics in unison.
The emotional video went viral quickly, with the TikTok clip receiving 33 million views in just one day.
A fan shared the video and wrote: "Fans finish the song for Lewis while he struggles to cope with his Tourette's >>."." The touching clip was captioned by the user: "We support you!"
Many TikTok users posted their reactions to the clip in the comments section. Some praised Capaldi's fans.
"I love Lewis Capaldi. I didn't know he had Tourette’s. It's a relief to know. It's an incredible crowd," one person wrote. Another said, "I didn't know he had tourettes. I will now see him more as a musician." He is a legend."

According to Mayo Clinic, Tourette syndrome can be described as a "disorder that causes repetitive movements or unintentional sounds (tics), that cannot be controlled easily." Tics can be mild or severe, and usually manifest between the ages 2 and 15. Mayo Clinic adds that Tourette's is more common in men than it is for women.
Capaldi disclosed that he was diagnosed with the nervous disorder in an Instagram Live in September.

"It's the worst part about it. When I'm excited, I get it. When I'm stressed, I get my it. But when I feel happy, I get it. Capaldi stated that it happens all the time. It can be more or less painful depending on the day. It seems worse than it really is. It can be quite unpleasant at times, but it is temporary.
"I do the shoulder twitch quite often. People are often puzzled by the twitching beneath every TikTok. Which is fine. Curiosity is fine. He added, "I get it," later.
The "Before You Go” singer shared his belief that he has suffered from the disorder all of his life. He also said that he originally thought he had "some terrible degenerative disease." Capaldi stated that his diagnosis was "so logical" after seeing him twitch in interviews dating back to 2018.
Capaldi stated that he didn’t want anyone to believe that he was using drugs such as cocaine and revealed his diagnosis.
He said, "It's new, I haven’t really learned much about -- I’m learning," in an Instagram Live. To stop it from moving, I have Botox on my shoulder. It did work for a while.
