She also spoke out about her "very healthy" lifestyle, both spiritually and mentally.

Lizzo slammed some of her critics in her latest cover story for Vanity Fair.

The "Truth Hurts” star discusses some of the criticisms she has faced throughout her Grammy- and Emmy-winning careers. She was accused of creating music for a white audience and her open Instagram page and concert looks adding to the "sexualization of women."

She said that it was the most critical criticism she'd received and she is open to having a conversation about Black artists. Black people are more likely to think that this music is not for them if they see many white people in the crowd. The truth is that once a Black artist has reached a certain level, the audience will be predominantly white.

Lizzo stated that this isn’t a new concept, pointing out how Black legends such as Sister Rosetta Tharpe and Tina Turner all played to predominantly white audiences.

"I'm not making music for white people. She continued, "I am a Black woman. I make music from my Black experience. It is for me to heal [from] this experience we call life." "I can help others, that's great. We are the most neglected and marginalized people in this country. We are the most vulnerable and need to be loved. So, I am making music for the girl who looks just like me. She grew up in a place where she was not valued and picked on. Yes. It's amazing to me when people tell me that I don't make music from a Black perspective. How could they?

She said that her clothing choices were sexually explicit and she chose them. If it's sexualized it means that someone is either doing it to me, or taking it away from me.

Black women are both hyper-sexualized and masculinized at the same time. Due to racism's structure, being thinner or lighter or having narrower features will make you more likely to be a woman. She continued by saying that Beyonce's "Single Ladies", which featured black women dancing in leotards, "became an industry standard for everyone"

She said, "I wanted to dance and it was also political and feminist in me to have me, full-figured dancer wearing leotards showing and celebrating curves and Olympian in strength endurance and flexibility," while drawing parallels between her work and Josephine Baker's banana skirts of the 1920s.

"Movements must evolve generationally. She said that culture changes. "You cannot have a 1920 movement be the same as it is today. We must match the rebellion. "The rebellion is not the same."

Lizzo also spoke out about the "body positivity” discourse. She said it isn't something she loses sight of and something she has expected from the beginning of her career in music. She then spoke about her healthy lifestyle and why weight or food shouldn't be the main focus of life.

"I live a healthy lifestyle, both mentally and spiritually. I make sure that everything I put into my body is clean. She explained that health is something I value, no matter where it leads me physically. People were shocked to hear that veganism was popular. Is that deep-frying the lettuce? "I don't eat vegans to lose weight. I feel better when I eat vegetables."

It's a shame that weight gain is associated with something negative. She said that it is mixing food and stress. "I don't believe weight gain is a bad thing anymore. I feel very fortunate." Weight loss is not a bad thing. It's actually neutral. Food is great fun. I love to eat, and I now have a chef. Last night, I had a brownie."
