Luke Bryan Pays Tribute to Late American Idol Contestant Willie Spence

"He could instantly change the mood when he began singing."

Luke Bryan will pay tribute to Willie Spence, the beloved star of "American Idol", who died tragically on Tuesday Oct. 13.

Spence, the season 19 runner up, was in an accident that involved him in a car crash. He veered off Chattanooga's highway and struck another vehicle stopped on the shoulder. Just hours after posting a video of him singing a worship song to half-million people on social media, he died. He was 23 years of age.

The 46-year old country singer shared a tribute to Spence on Twitter.

Bryan tweeted a statement from the official American Idol Twitter account, "Willie really did brighten up every room that he entered." "He could instantly change the mood when he began singing. He will be truly missed."

Bryan was followed by other stars and judges of "American Idol", who shared their tributes to the singer.

Judge Lionel Richie uploaded Willie's 2021 performance by Adele of "Set Fire to The Rain" to Instagram. The caption to the video was "Your light will always shine" We were so fortunate to have the opportunity to see your light shine. Willie's loved ones are in my thoughts and prayers. My friend, Rest in Peace.

Chayce Beckham was the Spence season winner. She fondly remembered her outgoing personality, and she raved about his voice, saying it could "shake a room."

Beckham posted on Instagram that Willie's singing "would shake a room" "I believe Willie was given a voice by God to spread his message. Willie's gospel songs can make you weep.

She said, "His bigger than life energy was infectious. I loved being around his." My thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends and fans. He loved them so much and held them close to his heart. I cannot wait to sing with your in Paradise where I know that I will see you again. Rest in Peace, brother.

Katy Perry, a fellow judge, shared her condolences in a comment below the American Idol tribute post to Spence on Instagram.

"I love Willie... pure soul." She said, "Sing with the angels, my darling."
