Man Feared Murdered Roommate Would Rise from Dead 'Like The Grudge,' Kept Body in Closet for Months: Police

The police received a 911 phone call the day before the police now believe that the victim was murdered.

Local authorities in Las Vegas accuse a man of murdering his roommate and storing her body in a closet, fearing that she would resurrect.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department charged George Bone with open murder for the death of Beverly Ma his roommate and girlfriend.

According to police records, (via Fox 5 Vegas), Ma was found dead after her family became worried about the high air conditioning bills for her house. Ma's family arrived at the house after a repairman couldn't reach her. Bone told them that Ma was dead and then showed them her body.

The report stated that "[one family member] observed a cooler on the closet door of the bedroom and at the bottom was a towel which covered the gap." "George told [her] that she could open it and look."

Why do you want to see her? According to the arrest report, he told them that if they wanted to see her, he could show it to them. He said her body had been hidden in the closet for more than two months.

Ma's family asked him why he did not call the police, and he said that he wanted to delay the arrest as much as possible because he was a "man of color". According to the report, the man acted "nonchalantly" when he spoke with Ma's family. He even brushed his tooth while speaking with them.

The police said that Bone told them that he had found Ma in the closet dead with a belt on her neck, either May 5th, or 15th, and feared jail so he covered her up with a blanket.

, according to police, "Bone lived at the house for two months with Beverly dead in the closet upstairs and ordered several items using Beverly's Amazon funds for his personal gain." Bone said he was afraid to go back to prison for having a dead body in his house.

Bone, a sex offender registered with the police, told the officers that he had kept the air conditioner on the lowest setting to try to reduce the amount of flies at home because the body was decomposing. He also admitted that he responded to texts from Ma's relatives after her death pretending to be Ma. He reportedly replied that he placed the cooler in the closet so that he would be alerted to the possibility of Ma "rising from the dead" like in the movie The Grudge.

Bone was arrested after detectives determined that Ma's death had been a homicide and not a suicide. On May 4, the day before Bone claimed to have found Ma's body, police received a 911 from Ma's mobile phone. They heard a woman and a man screaming. When officers checked on Ma's welfare, the call ended abruptly. According to 8NewsNow the police believe that she died by strangulation on this day, although no cause of death was released by her coroner.

Bone will appear before the court on August 1 without bond.
