According to witnesses, the suspect claimed that the victim "deserved" it after the pole - which still had an American flag attached - "entered the victim's skull beneath his jaw and left the other side".

According to the local police, a man was arrested in Tulsa last week for allegedly stabbing another person outside a Sonic with a flagpole.

Tulsa Police Department released a press release titled "STABBED THROUGH WITH A FLAGPOLE" on August 2, after receiving a report of a stabbing.

The release stated that "when officers arrived, they discovered the male victim with the flagpole in his head." The pole entered beneath the victim's jaw and exited on the opposite side of the head near the right temple area. At the time, the American Flag was still on the pole.

Witnesses reported to police that they saw a suspect, later identified as Clifton Collins (above left), "charge the victim and stab with a flagpole through his skull" before telling the police, "That's the punishment he deserves." He deserved to be punished."

Tristan Catlin is one of the witnesses who told Fox23 what she saw.

Catlin stated, "We saw him charge at the person who was sitting on the floor in front of McDonald's." "I wish I'd called it as soon as it happened. I didn't know, I thought it was unlikely that this could escalate. It was a very quick altercation, you know. One that ended almost as soon as it began.

Collins was arrested on charges of Maiming after Former Conviction of A Felony. The victim was then taken to hospital, and firefighters had to "cut a part of the flagpole to fit him into the ambulance." According to authorities, the victim is expected "to survive but will probably lose an eye."

Officer Danny Bean told FOX23, "A flagpole is a very violent act. It's very violent to put a hole in someone's skull."

The two men did not know each other, nor have they revealed any further details.
