The actress, who shares her 9-month-old Oscar and son Gus with husband Taylor Goldsmith, detailed the health scare and praised Oscar for being a "rockstar".

Mandy Moore has revealed that her son Gus was diagnosed with Gianotti Crossti Syndrome after he "woke with a crazy skin rash" the previous week.

The actress posted a series on Instagram Stories detailing the health scare and praising her son, who was 2 years old, for his "rockstar" behavior throughout the incident.

Moore wrote: "This sweet little boy woke up Saturday morning with a crazy skin rash. We thought it might be an [eczema] flare-up. Poison oak? Allergy."

She continued, "We did everything we could to relieve him of the itching. "We went to urgent care. Pediatrician. Dermatologist. Pediatric dermatologist."

The This Is Usstar continued, "All the time, he laughs, smiles, and goes about his day as the rockstar that he is."

Moore, who shares Gus's name with her husband Taylor Goldsmith, posted a picture of Gus's legs covered in red bumps. She then revealed that doctors determined Gus had Gianotti-Crosti Syndrome.

She wrote: "It turns out that it is a viral childhood skin rash called Gianotti Crossi Syndrome, which just appears spontaneously." It sometimes occurs with a cold, but not in Gus’s case. It's on his feet and legs (ouch!) and the backs his arms, but nowhere else.

The Walk to Remember actress said that "there is nothing to be done" to treat Gus rash other than applying steroid lotion and taking Benadryl at night. She said that the rash on her son "could be 6-8 weeks" before asking other mothers if they had experienced a similar situation.

WebMD states that Gianotti-Crosti Syndrome, also known as "papular childhood acrodermatitis", is a condition that primarily affects children under the age of five. It's often caused by a viral infection. WebMD stated that the condition is "very common, and it doesn't last long." However, it can be alarming if it appears on a child's face.

Moore also shared a post on Instagram, reflecting on the experience of being a new mother.

She wrote: "This parenting thing is strange and hard, and sometimes you feel helpless. (and yes, I'm so grateful that it's just an itchy skin disorder ),'"," she wrote next to a picture of Gus swinging. "Kids can be resilient, and as long as Gus is smiling through the pain, we're a-okay."

Gus is the first child of Moore and Goldsmith. Oscar, born in October to the couple, is also a part of their family.
