Monroe's signature look was made up of many elements. The iconic outfits, platinum blonde hair and costume jewelry were all part of Monroe's signature look. She didn't apply her lipstick in one swipe. She was patient, or rather her makeup artist was. To make her lips look fuller she used several shades of red.

Also, she used darker colors to the lips. To create a gradient effect, she began to apply lighter shades towards the middle. Here's how to get Monroe's famous pout.

How to achieve perfect lips

1. To outline your lips, first use a dark lipstick pencil such as Nightmoth by Mac. You can create the illusion of depth by starting with a darker color and then moving to a brighter one. This is contouring.
2. To fill in your lips, you can use another colored lipstick pencil. The perfect shade is NARS Matte Lip Pencil, Cruella. It will give your lips a matte finish.
3. Next, apply more layers of brighter red to the middle using a lip brush, such as Steamy from Morphe. This richly pigmented color will last for hours. It is a classic cherry-red with blue-red undertones. Although this lipstick has a matte finish, the glossy look can be achieved by the final step.
4. You can make your lips appear more fuller by adding a highlighter like High Beam Liquid Highlighter in your cupid's bow.
5. To add moisture to your lips, use Maracuja Juicy lip balm from Tarte.
