Matthew Fox was a popular TV star in the 1990s and again in the 2000s. He was able to appear in two popular primetime TV shows, something that most actors can only dream about. The once-in-demand actor started to have personal problems after the second show was cancelled in 2010. Many fans began to worry about Matthew Fox's fate after tabloids started reporting on his unsavory behavior. He took a break from Hollywood in 2015 and has not been seen on TV or in movies since. Where is Matthew Fox now? We have some clues.
Matthew Fox's Television Career
Matthew Fox was born July 14, 1966 in a Wyoming small town. Fox's father was a farmer who raised him and his brothers on a small, rural ranch in the middle of nowhere. In a 2013 interview, the Lost star stated that it was 17 miles of dirt road to reach the two-lane blacktop. "And then you had to travel another 20 miles to reach a small town of 900 people."
Fox stated that while he was isolated, he had dreams of becoming an actor. However, he didn't know what fame and celebrity would look like. He explained that the isolation has worked in his favor and against him when it comes down to what's involved in being an actor. "I don't do well with the emotional hoopla that comes with fame." Selling yourself. I was a dreamy child. I am still a dreamy child."
Fox moved to New York City to study at Columbia University. He decided to try acting, but it was difficult for him to break out of his shell. Fox told The Guardian that the first acting classes he attended were difficult because he was shy and so painfully shy. "But I was liberated from my self-consciousness once I understood that it was about telling stories and being part the group.
Fox was able to get him his first TV role on Wings. He then went on to play a few more roles before he was cast on Party of Five, a Fox family drama.
Fox was Accused of Assault in 2012
He was well-liked both by his fans and fellow actors during the years Fox was on Party of Five. Although he tried to avoid the spotlight as much as possible, Fox was often a guest on talk shows Jimmy Kimmel Live and where he enjoyed making fun of himself.
However, that happy-go lucky reputation was severely damaged when the Vantage Point star was allegedly accused of repeatedly punching a woman in 2012. This was after she refused to let him board a private bus in Cleveland, Ohio. The civil suit brought by the woman was dropped and Fox was not arrested. However, Dominic Monaghan, an actor, made a shocking accusation about his Lostcostar shortly after the media reported the incident.
"He beats women. These are not isolated instances. Monaghan tweeted, referring Fox.
Fox denied the claims and said to Men's Journal that it was a difficult year in which he had to deal with negative comments about him. It is true that I beat a Cleveland woman, but I was actually assaulted by an adult and only retaliated against him. In the 46 years that I've lived on this planet, I have never beaten a woman. Never have and never will.
In the interview, Monaghan also called them "a pile bullshit" and said that he would not waste his time on it.
He was also charged with a DUI
Fox drove under the influence, even though he didn't assault a woman. In May 2012, the Alex Cross actor was given a DUI and he admitted to it in an Elleninterview that he regrets his decision. He said, "I was very embarrassed by that." "I truly own that and have done everything the state of Oregon requires for first-time DUI offenders. I've learned so much. I completed four weeks of alcohol informational coaching. I have just learned a lot."
Fox used his Ellen interview to clarify exactly what happened that day he allegedly punched an Ohio woman. Fox explained that although a fight did occur and he was sucker-punched in the face by a man, the woman involved was not at fault and only wanted to make money off the witnesses. Fox stated that the woman was a woman who was close to the incident and decided to create a new version of what happened and try to extort money. Fox said, "That is what happened."
Fox denied that he was going to speak against the allegations sooner. He said he did not want to interfere in legal proceedings. He explained that he had planned to let the courts decide it. "Then I realized there would come a time when I could tell the truth."
His Career Went On Hiatus In 2015
Fox appeared in several films following the scandal, including Alex Cross and Emperor, World War Z, and Extinction. His 2015 movie Bone Tomahawk was critically acclaimed for its ensemble cast, but it did not do well at the box-office. Fox made the decision to step away from major-screen roles after he was not satisfied with the opportunities that presented themselves to him. In his interview with Men's Journal, Fox stated that whether or not he works again will depend on the quality of the opportunities he gets. "And, if I don't receive quality opportunities, you probably won't be seeing much of me." I will probably be doing something different."
Fox's film career was not a very successful one. Although he was in supporting roles in movies such as Smokin' Aces and World War Z , Alex Cross was a huge box office bomb.
Fox is getting ready for a comeback in 2022
Fox, 55 years old, has made a decision to return to television after an 11-year hiatus. According Variety,he will star and executive produce Last Light,a miniseries of five episodes based on Alex Scarrow’s bestseller. The show will air on Peacockin 2020. It also stars Downton Abbey'sJoanne Froggatt. It tells the story about a family trying to survive a global catastrophe.
