Michelle Branch Confirms She 'Slapped' Husband: 'Not the Finest Moment of My Life'

Michelle Branch Confirms She 'Slapped' Husband: 'Not the Finest Moment of My Life'

The singer addresses allegations of assault, apologizes for accusing her husband infidelity in a tweet that has since been deleted, and offers reconciliation.

Michelle Branch spoke out about her marriage to Patrick Carney of The Black Keys, and confirmed that she had physically assaulted him in a recent altercation.

In August, the "Everywhere" singer was taken into custody on domestic assault charges. This happened shortly after she had deleted and tweeted about a post in which she accused him of cheating on it. After the charges were dropped, she filed to divorce before the two suspended their divorce proceedings on Tuesday.

Branch, who appeared on "The Tamron Hall Show" today, admitted that she had attacked Carney and apologized for her tweet.

Hall raised the matter and she replied, "They aren't allegations." "Violence is not something I condone. I hit my husband. It was not the best moment of my entire life."

"The night, the way it went down was so unfortunate. She laughed a bit, but said it was the worst night in my life. "And then to have the record out in the public eye as I get ready to release a record has been a lot. But all I can do to be honest about my feelings and what's happening is to just be myself. This is not something I am the first to go through.

She spoke about her mental state the night before the incident and mentioned having a baby seven months ago. This has left her stressed and sleep-deprived, just like all the parents in the audience.

She continued, "Also we had been out to a birthday party that evening, I'd had some drinks, and all the blocks were stacked so that I didn't really have time for thinking about what I was doing." It was one of those moments that made me wonder if this was really happening. This really happened? You're realizing this in real-time. "Oh, I probably shouldn’t have tweeted that," "Oh, my anger definitely shouldn’t have got the best of me!"

Branch stated that she and Carney have just started therapy. She wishes they had done it "six months" ago.

"I wish we could have gotten help sooner and spoken to someone. She said that it had made a tremendous difference in such a brief time. This is your sign, so if you see someone out there, please let them know. Talk to someone if you have been thinking about it. It has been a tremendous help."

She said that it was "unfortunate" that they had to go through such a traumatic event in order to seek help.

She said, "My husband is like, how were we going was unsustainable. Maybe this will give us tools to have stronger marriage than ever before." "So, we are putting our hands up and working hard, which is not fun but it's what we're doing."

Branch and Carney were married in 2019, and have two children, Rhys, 4 and Willie, 7.
