According to the victim's father, he doesn't think they will ever be able to find closure for "the cold-blooded desecration of her body and the cowardice with which her murderer tried to avoid responsibility for his wrongdoings."

Alexis Gabe (a 24-year-old girl who was reported missing in January) has been found.

The Oakley Police Department announced Friday that partial human remains were found in Plymouth, California by a tourist metal detector. They were confirmed as Gabe's thanks to dental records.

Police released a statement saying that Alexis' remains were in poor condition and her body was not fully recovered. They believe that the remains of Alexis are scattered throughout the country. "Due to Alexis's remains, we realize that there may never be a complete recovery of her."

Authorities stated that the area where Alexis' remains are found was searched further, and no other remains have been discovered. The area also contained Alexis' earrings, remnants of black garbage bags and duct tape.

Gabe disappeared earlier in the year. Her car, which was unlocked and had the keys inside, was found in another nearby city after she disappeared in Antioch, California, in January. Police soon located Marshall Curtis Jones III, her ex-boyfriend and obtained a warrant to arrest him. However, he was shot and killed during an attempt to arrest him in June. Police claim that he had charged them with a large knife.

The Seattle Police Department released video footage of the incident that shows Jones III emerging from his house with what appears like a knife in hand. Police referred to him as the "sole suspect" in the murder of her mother and the "sole perpetrator". They also said that the investigation into the homicide was over with the discovery of Gabe’s remains. Police believe that she did not escape Jones' house alive and have no motive.

This discovery comes months after authorities released handwritten instructions that were found during a February home search. They had been discovered by Jones' sister. Police believed Jones had used the instructions to dispose off Alexis' body close to where the directions ended.

These directions pointed to an area just outside Pioneer, California. It is approximately a half-hour drive from the location where Gabe's remains were found in Plymouth.

Police say that the location where the remains of Alexis were found was "an area we identified as Marshall Curtis Jones's travel route in the days and hours following Alexis' disappearance."

Gwyn Gabe, Alexis' father, made a statement during the press conference in which he expressed his family's reactions to the discovery.

Although it was what we prayed for, to find Alexis to lay her to rest, the truth was still shocking to hear. He shared that our hearts were broken more than we imagined. "Deep within we were still holding onto the hope that she was okay and she's still there somewhere, waiting for rescue and to be reunited with her," he shared.

He said, "I don't think there will ever be closure" for the family after Alexis' death, her heartless murder, the desecration of her body, and the cowardice of her killer who chose to avoid responsibility for his wrongdoings.

He emotionally said that despite all the grief, anger, frustration, and pain, it was somehow comforting to know that she had been found and that we could finally bring her home. "We pray for our daughter to be at peace knowing that her family and community did everything possible to find her. We will not stop until they do. We won't stop until all her remains are found."
