In this live-action version, I won't be reprising my role. "It is vital to me that the casting accurately reflects the stories and characters we want tell", said Cravalho who voiced the Disney Character in the 2016 movie.
Auli'i Craválho, the star of "Moana", will appear in the live-action Disney remake of the 2016 animated movie. However, it has been revealed that she will not be reprising the role.
The actress, 22, announced the news via Instagram on Friday.
Cravalho stated, "When I was cast in the role of Moana when I was 14, it changed my life and launched my career." In this live-action version, I won't be reprising my role. It is vital to me that the casting represents accurately the characters and stories I want to tell.
She continued, "As an executive producer of the film, I cannot wait to find the actress who will portray Moana’s courage, unmistakable wit, and emotional strength."
Cravalho said, "I'm honored to be the first woman of Pacific Island descent who will honor the incredible Pacific peoples and cultures that inspired her story. I look forward to seeing all the beautiful Pacific representation in the future." "Mahalo."
Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and Disney have announced that they are working on a live action "reimagining".
The studio released a statement that said, "Like the animated film before it, this new film will celebrate Pacific Islanders' islands, cultures and traditions as seen by a young woman who is eager to forge her own way." "Moana’s journey of self discovery and reflection on her ancestors’ lives won hearts around the world, as did her friendship with an exiled god named Maui.
Johnson shared a video of himself with his daughters Tia, Jasmine and Jasmine at the Oahu beaches.
"Aloha to everyone from Hawaii. He shared that they were on Oahu where he grew up. Hawaii is a very special place to me and my family. The traditions we have in our 'ohana' or 'aiga', as they say in Samoa were formed by these islands.
Johnson revealed that the film will include Gramma tala, Pua, Te Fiti, and songs and dances from the animated film. He said he was honored to reprise his role as Maui, since the character is based on his late grandfather High Chief Peter Maivia.
As you can see, this is a very personal story for me. "In a sense, I am bringing Maui to live in the spirit my grandfather", he said. "It's very early in the project, and there's a lot more work to do."
The clip ended with his children bringing his character's Manaiakalani.
Johnson will also be a producer for the film.
The original film, which was released in November 2016, generated nearly $644 millions in worldwide box office.
Disney is currently working on a number of projects, including the upcoming live-action version. Here you can find out what new movies Disney has in the works.
