If you have ever been a fan of a band or musician, you will know how frustrating it can be to hear them announce that they are taking a break. It can be hard to go without your favorite artist's music for a while, but it doesn't have to be. Many musicians decided to give it another shot in 2022. Over the past year, music lovers have been thrilled to hear new releases, whether they were on Spotify, at a reunion tour, or an old favourite coming back onto the charts.

1. Paramore

After Paramore's 2017 album, "After Laughter", the band split up for a while. Hayley Williams released solo albums in 2020 and 2021, while she promoted the projects. However, no word was forthcoming about Paramore's return. In 2021, the band shocked fans by reuniting in studio to create new music. The band announced that they would be touring in October 2022. Just days before they were due to start their tour, the first single from their new era, "This is Why", was released.

2. My Chemical Romance

My Chemical Romance has been making plans to return for many years, but they didn't make it happen until 2022. The group finally made it to the road after a lengthy delay due to the pandemic. They also released "The Foundations of Decay", their first single since 2014. Fans are still keeping their fingers crossed that they will release an album.

3. blink-182

Although blink-182 released their last album a few years back, 2022 was the band's first reunion since 2015. Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker made the announcement that Tom DeLonge would rejoin the band in October ahead of a 2023 tour announcement. Later that week, the group released their first single, "Edging", which was released by the reunited band. They also have plans to release a new album, but they have not yet revealed the date.

"Yes, it's happening. blink-182, new music, world tour. Tom's back. It's like a weight has been lifted from my shoulders. It was difficult to keep that secret for so many years," Mark said on Apple Music Hits' "After School Radio".

4. Pink Floyd

Pink Floyd had not released any music for years, but they dropped an unexpected single this year. The group reunited for "Hey Hey, Rise Up!" to support the Ukrainians fighting against Russia. The song was inspired by the 1914 Ukrainian anthem "Oh, Red Viburnum In the Meadow" and features vocals by Andriy Khlyvnyuk, a member of Ukrainian band BoomBox. Pink Floyd member David Gilmour said that he was inspired by an Instagram video of Andriy performing it in his fatigues.

David released a statement saying that he and others felt the anger and frustration at the vile act by one of the major world powers of invading a peaceful, independent democratic country and having its citizens killed. Then, I came across this amazing video on Instagram. He stands in a square of Kyiv with a beautiful gold-domed cathedral and sings in complete silence. It was an incredible moment that inspired me to make music.

5. Flyleaf

Flyleaf announced their return to rock in 2022 when Lacey Sturm, who had left the band in 2012 due to personal reasons, made the announcement. Kristen May was recruited by the band to replace her. Kristen announced her resignation in 2016 and the band was placed on indefinite hiatus. The group has so far announced several shows in 2023.

6. Yellowcard

Yellowcard announced that they would be reuniting in 2022, five years after their last show. They have already booked several shows for 2023, including Slam Dunk Festival and When We Were Young Fest.

"It's been over 5 years since we shared a stage together. All of us believed it was the end when we parted ways in 2017. The group released a statement saying that their journey together continues to amaze them.

7. Rage Against The Machine

Fans of Rage Against The Machine have been eagerly awaiting a reunion for many years. Although the band had originally planned to tour in 2020, they were delayed several times until the group returned in 2022. This was 11 years after their last concert. After just a few shows, Zach de la Rocha, the group leader, was injured in his leg. The group cancelled their remaining dates after they completed the first leg. The band released a live album despite the injury.

8. Motley Crue

Motley Crue returned back to touring in 2022, despite having signed a "cessation" agreement eight years ago in which they promised never to tour again. The band had second thoughts when they signed up for "The Stadium Tour" with Poison, Def Leppard and Joan Jett. Although they were initially unsure about the whole thing, Nikki Sixx claims that he was eventually able to convince Tommy Lee.

"I was like, "Hey, dude! They're talking about us touring," and he was like, "No." We wanted to be -- stand behind what we said. Then it was 16 and 36. We just entered our 36th stadium. And there are, what, 120 next year. So, we're thankful we said yes." Nikki said to ET Online.

9. Kate Bush

Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill", which was No.1 on the Hot 100, has been re-elected at No. After its appearance in Netflix's latest season of "Stranger Things," 8 was added to the Hot 100. The '80s song was featured in "Stranger Things" and has since risen to No.1 in Australia and the U.K., as well as the U.S. Top 5 per Billboard.

She wrote, "I must admit that I am really moved by this all," in a statement posted on her website. "Thank you so much for making this song a No. "1 in an unexpected way"
