The journalist Martin Fletcher became emotional while recounting recent events between Israel & Hamas. He revealed that the family of his wife is one of the hostages.
One NBC reporter couldn't help but become emotional as the situation between Israel & Hamas deteriorated.
Martin Fletcher of NBC, a Middle East and Israeli correspondent for many years, fought tears while discussing the conflict. He revealed that two members of his wife’s family are Hamas hostages in Gaza.
Fletcher, who was holding back tears as he spoke to MSNBC's Stephanie Ruhle on Thursday, said: "I found out today that my wife's two family members are hostages."
Fletcher also said that Hamas had been told to "kill those who were difficult and use the others as human shields" when they invaded Israel earlier this month. Fletcher says that the situation has become "very personal" to him and his family.
Hamas began air attacks on Israeli territory in October, as well as land and maritime attacks. Israel responded by firing missiles and launching a ground attack.
The death count for Israel as of Thursday morning has reached almost 4500. At least 1,400 Israelis, and 3,0000 Palestinians are dead. Injuries to both sides also number in the thousands.
The attack on Oct. 7, and the subsequent bombings of Gaza, have been considered an escalation in the conflict between Israel, Palestine and dates back to 1948.
