Joy's reaction to the trolls who call her a "child-bride" is "It’s definitely strange to have so many different people giving you their opinion."

Nick Viall said he was hesitant to date Natalie Joy, his now-fiancee, because of their age difference.

The Bachelor Nation star, 42, revealed that he had asked for his fiancee’s ID when they first began dating.

Viall said, "I carded her, we started messaging," before Joy confirmed that "he was like, I want to see your identification." The Viall Files host told Joy at the time that the two would never date because of "my age."

After meeting in late 2019, the couple began dating in summer 2020, despite his reservations. Viall claims that Joy was the one who made the first move by sliding into his DMs. The pair met later in New York, and the rest is now history.

She slipped into my DMs. We emailed for a few weeks. "We met in New York," said the reality star. I think we both thought the other person was a bit crazy. We both kind of knew that we would end up spending the entire weekend together. "I think we both were pretty guarded."

Viall and Joy were meant to be, according to Joy.

"I knew I would spend the rest my life with him after that weekend. She admitted that she knew and he did not. "I was just like, I'm going to wait because he will come around." So I asked him to date me several times."

Social media has been critical of their relationship, even though they eventually found a common ground.

The Instagram model added, "It is definitely strange to have so many different people giving you their opinion." "DMs with mean comments about how I am a child bride... just horrible, terrible things that people would call me."

In January, they announced their engagement in a post on Instagram.

The caption said, "For the rest my life, you're it," next to a picture of Viall kissing Joy, whose hand was decorated with a customized engagement ring.
