Police claim that the victim was trying to avoid the fare when he died.
A 28-year old man was killed while trying to jump the turnstile at a New York Subway station.
Christopher De La Cruz, according to police, was trying to avoid the $2.75 fare. He fell over the barrier and snapped the neck.
At 6:45 am Sunday morning, officers responded to reports that a man was unconscious at Queens' Forest Hills-71st Avenue station. They reportedly found De La Cruz "unconscious" and "unresponsive" on the spot. He was then declared dead at the station.
The horrifying footage shows the victim trying unsuccessfully to climb over the turnstiles. He crashes into one of them and loses his phone.
He stumbles backwards and then tries to climb over another, identical turnstile. It has fatal consequences. He loses his balance and falls over the turnstile. His legs follow him backwards, and he flips, landing face-first on the concrete floor.
According to police, the victim was trying to avoid the fare when he died.
