Olivia Rodrigo Reacts to Theory 'Vampire' Is About Taylor Swift

Olivia Rodrigo Reacts to Theory 'Vampire' Is About Taylor Swift

The 20-year old says, "I was very green about the music business, especially the litigation side." She credits various artists including Swift retroactively on her first album.

Olivia Rodrigohas denied fan theories that her song "Vampire", which is based on Taylor Swift , is actually about .

The 20-year old seemed to have taken a page from Swift's own cryptic lyrics when she said, in an article with The Guardian: "I don't want to reveal who my songs are about. I have never done this in my career, and I probably won't. It's better not to pigeonhole songs to be about one thing.

The former Disney Channel actress then added: "I was surprised that people thought this."

Swift's lyrics from "Livies", which are believed to be about her, include phrases such as "bloodsucker" and "fame f---ker." "Bleeding me dry like a vampire" is also included.

Rodrigo's secret addition of Swift, Jack Antonoff and St. Vincent to her single "Deja Vu" led to the fan theories. She added Antonoff and Swift as co-writers to "1 Step forward, 3 steps back" from the Sour album. Rodrigo and Taylor have never worked together in person and Rodrigo only acknowledged Swift and her crew retroactively. The Guardian reports that she gave Swift 50 percent royalties for those songs, as well as Paramore's hit song "Good 4 U."

She told The Guardian that it was "disappointing" to see people misinterpret things and denigrate the work of young women. She said of writing her first album as opposed to her second: "I was so new in terms of how the music business worked, and the litigious side.... Now I know so much about the industry, and I feel... better equipped." It was not something I considered too much."

Rodrigo previously stated how Swift had a huge influence on her creativity. Rodrigo has ceased to praise Swift since the credit issue.

Taylor chose Sabrina Carpenter, who is believed by fans to be the inspiration for "Driver's License".

Rodrigo stated last month that the lyrics of "Vampire", are not about someone using her to advance in life.

She said on Audacy’s The Julia Show, "I don't think the song is about fame f---ing, or whatever. I think it's about someone manipulating you and sucking you out, using you to their fullest value." "I believe that this is a universal issue, and fame has never been easier to obtain. Not only people from L.A. or Hollywood have to deal that."

The song makes mention of an age difference as well as the short-lived nature of a relationship, further complicating the interpretation.

Rodrigo shared on Instagram that he wrote the song to help him sort out his feelings of regret and anger. It's my favorite song on the album, and I felt very cathartic when I finished it. It's so great that it is in your hands and I hope it will help you deal with the bloodsuckers who are in your life. "All my thanks forever".
