Kelly Clarkson recently invited Olivia Wilde to join her on his talk show. Wilde spoke candidly with Kelly Clarkson about her split with Jason Sudeikis, and how it feels to be a single parent.

Wilde and Sudeikis had been together for almost 10 years. The two stars were first together in 2011 and got engaged in January 2013. They became parents to Daisy, 8 and Ottis, 8. In 2020, however, it was announced that the Hollywood couple had split. The couple are now co-parenting their children, and trying to figure out how life is like for a blended family.

Wilde says, "It's tough" being a single parent

Wilde, director of Don’t Worry Darling spoke candidly about his life as a single parent in Wilde's interview with Kelly Clarkson on the Kelly Show. Clarkson was told by Wilde that it is difficult. It's difficult to restructure a family.

Wilde remains optimistic about her family, and sees the positive side of things after the breakup. The director noted that "the one benefit is it has allowed for some really deep discussions with my children, like about emotions and happiness, and what family means and how to love." It's allowed me to get to understand them in a new way. They are my priority.

"My Ex and I agree" on the Important Things

Wilde was reflecting more on her family and revealed that Jason Sudeikis and she can still agree on certain things regarding the children. The director shared that "as long as their children are happy and healthy, my ex and me agree on that." Wilde explained more about how co-parenting can look in the middle of a public breakup. It's okay if I can surround them with love. It's difficult because it's not done in private," she said.

Wilde refers to the scandalous headlines in the tabloids ever since Sudeikis and her split. Clarkson shared the news with Wilde that, although the whole story is not known, Clarkson has learned the best way to deal with gossip.

Wilde noted, "When the universe is forming their own story and you can't control them... I realized that I had to stop correcting wrong narratives." She also acknowledged that her children have been a great help in this time. She noted that "if they're okay, then I can support them." Wilde seems to have found the strength that she needs, not only for her family but also for herself.
