Pam and costar-turned-husband Judd Winick join Karl Schmid for a conversation about Pedro's public battle with HIV.

It has been almost 30 years since "The Real World: San Francisco", which highlighted the HIV/AIDS epidemic through Pedro Zamora (cast member), who was HIV-positive at the time he entered the house.

Zamora, 22, died of complications from the disease just hours after the finale of season three aired. This was only one week after MTV viewers saw his MTV commitment ceremony. Even Bill Clinton, then-president, praised Zamora's efforts to give "a human face" and fight against stigma.

Two of Zamora’s former roommates, costars and close friends, Pam Ling, and Judd Winick will join Karl Schmid on +Life TV this week for an interview to celebrate Zamora’s legacy. Ling reminisces about the moment she realized that MTV would tell Pedro's story "justice" in an exclusive preview clip.

They don't show the show to us until we leave the house. Ling said that they had a wrap party at which they showed us the first episode "The Real World"... it was the first time we had seen our show."

"I believe I first saw the show once and saw the scene where Cory Murphy meets Pedro. She finds out that he is HIV+. I was so shocked when I watched the preview because I thought, 'Oh my god, they are going to do justice this story.'" she said.

She also remembered thinking, "They are going to give it the right treatment and it is so important."

Winick and Ling started dating in 1995. They were married in August 2001. Ling is a doctor in San Francisco and the couple has two children. In the years that followed the Hilo series, Pedro's memory has been kept alive by Winick, a cartoonist who created the Hilo series. He also published the graphic novel "Pedro and Me" in 2000 about their friendship and honors his friend via social media.
