"That's something I find it really difficult to forgive myself."
Pamela Anderson reflects on her turbulent relationship with Tommy Lee and why she thinks their turbulent past did their sons a disservice.
She will be releasing a Netflix documentary, "Pamela, a Love Story", later in the month. A new memoir, "Love, Pamela," will also be released. In it, she opens up about her sons, Dylan, 25, and Brandon, 26.
She wrote via People that Dylan and Brandon are truly miracles considering their gene pool. They have seen so much and yet aren't full of holes.
Pamela Anderson says Tommy Lee Romance "May Have Been The Only Time I Was Ever Truly In Love"
In the book, she stated that their marriage suffered from the 1995 unauthorised release of their sex tape. This happened shortly before they had the births of the boys in 1996 and 1997. Anderson said that they dealt with the situation in the best possible way, but some things got out of control. "And Tommy and me, between us, I don’t think we were mature enough to handle it all.
Their marriage was broken when Lee assaulted Lee in 1998. Lee was convicted of spousal abuse, and was sentenced to four months in prison.
"I believe we let our children down. It's something that I find it really difficult to forgive myself for. Anderson wrote that we should have found a solution. Anderson wrote, "I could not accept any kind of violent maneuver. It was my childhood fears that were exposed. That was not what I wanted for my children, and while Tommy was my best friend, my kids were my greatest love.
She continued to tell us that her boys saved her, and that having children "changed everything."
Anderson spoke with People about her current life. Anderson, a single star of "Raw Justice", lives on Vancouver Island with her five dogs and in the farmhouse that belonged to her grandparents.
She told the magazine that she lives a more romantic lifestyle now that she is single than in relationships. "Light my candles and listen to my music. My piano is there, and I know it would be wonderful if another person was in my life. But I've never met them. It's often about them and finding the right balance.
Anderson said, "I don’t need someone to bring my roses," "I just planted 100 rosebushes. They're my favourite roses and I can get them whenever I want.
Anderson will simultaneously release her memoir, "Love, Pamela", and her Netflix documentary, “Pamela: A Love Story” on January 31.
