She described the "really bad" negotiations and said that she favors animals over Paramount.
Pamela Anderson spoke out about feeling undervalued in both the original Baywatch TV series and the 2017 Baywatch movie starring Dwayne Johnson and Zac Emery.
Anderson spoke with Variety to give a new profile. Anderson stated that she was approached by the producers with an unappetizing offer to appear in the film.
She said that it was getting really, really bad and that the outlet producers were constantly calling her. They said that they wanted me to do it for a favor. "I said, "I do favors to animals, not Paramount."
"It was so bullying. They wanted me do it free of charge, as a tribute or something. I replied, "Come on guys. "I mean, really? She added.
Anderson was seen at the end of film reprising her role in CJ Parker's role, while Johnson introduced Johnson as the new lifeguard crew captain. Anderson didn't speak, but she made fun of the original show by appearing slow-motion. She said that she was OK and that there were no complaints.
She claimed she was also undervalued in the TV series, saying that she was only paid $1,500 per episode for the first season. Although her fee increased over time, she had no interest in her likeness being sold for Barbies or other merchandise. She also makes nothing from the remastered series that Amazon has added to Prime Video.
Variety reported that "Baywatch' producers made a lot of money." I didn't have representation back then. Or the know-how. It's not something you realize until you do a TV show.
Brandon, her son, was instrumental in negotiating the deals with HarperCollins and Netflix for her memoir and documentary. His mother was "definitely being taken advantage" of back then and now, he says.
He said, "It still feels strange that there hasn’t been any sort of discussion with Amazon and the 'Baywatch'producers to get her her share." "With the Amazon library agreement, we didn’t get a penny."
Anderson will simultaneously release her memoir, "Love, Pamela", and her Netflix documentary, “Pamela: A Love Story” on January 31.
