P!nk has a new message to her former rival, after she opened up about the tension she felt with Christina Aguilera during "Lady Marmalade".
P!nk may be in the headlines, but she isn't happy with how they are dominated by her comments about a "silly feud” between her and Christina Aguilera.
Although the songstress was open and honest about her experiences with Aguilera while working on "Lady Marmalade," she is frustrated that this is the only thing getting the media attention, rather than her new album "Trustfall".
In a long post on Saturday night to her Instagram, the "Missundaztood” artist acknowledges that her music has become more important than her lyrics and attempts to redirect attention. She also shared a new message to her former rival, Xtina.
P!nk wrote that while I have some responsibility for my inability and inability to lie and my uncanny propensity to overshare, my biggest disappointment is in the fact the art cannot be the focal point when you're female."
She continued to describe how she "sang her a--off" on the album, and also shared some of her career achievements like selling out stadiums, releasing 11 albums and raising her family. Finally, she lamented, "The only thing they ever ask you about is a silly feud from in your Twenties."
P!nk acknowledged that "I am notorious for saying too many things," but "I never lied."
She continued to stress that, despite having had problems with a few women, there are many other women who she has "complimented, supported, and loved on".
She argued, "But we don’t talk about it."
Then she mused on the press tours of stars like Bradley Cooper, Christina Bale, and Robert De Niro. She wondered how often they were asked about feuds or arguments they might have with their male counterparts. It rarely happens.
"We stick to their art, Don't you?" She wrote. "I would like the same opportunity."
Pop star, then, said that she believes in authentic apology and owning her mistakes. She stated that it was something she has been working on, and that this is a great reminder.
She ended her message by writing a note to Aguilera, saying, "Christina, you know where we stand." Resolved. Moving onwards and upwards. Thank you for listening and for your 25 yearsOf support and kickass love. Peace.
Busy Philipps was the first to support P!nk's message. She agreed with her wholeheartedly and encouraged her to tell all she had to.
Philipps commented on P!nk’s post, "Honey they’re always ready to reduce females to clickbait." You are, and have been, so much more than that. As an artist and human you are incredibly powerful. Keep sharing. It's interesting, refreshing, and it makes you feel less. "
P!nk, Aguilera both have shared their stories about the difficult times they had on the set for "Lady Marmalade", while simultaneously stating that the experience was all history and all water under the bridge for them now, many years later.
P!nk discussed it again with Chris Wallace on Chris Wallace's "Who's Talking", suggesting that Aguilera wanted physical fights for her, according to TMZ. She also spoke out about her feelings that Madonna doesn't like her and how she felt "betrayed” by Linda Perry.
She may be regretting her decision to derail media coverage and speak her truth about her experience in the industry, rather than focusing solely on the album.
"Trustfall", her ninth studio album, features Chris Stapleton and The Lumineers as guest artists. "Trustfall", available now. Below, you can read her complete comments on media coverage regarding her new project.
