Is there a thawing of the ice between Prince Charles, and Prince Harry. Charles wrote a recent essay for Newsweek in which he shared his views on climate change and the things he is doing to help. He also spoke of his two sons' work in the environment.

Charles Recognizes Both Sons’ Work

Charles wrote, "Sixty-years ago, my father recognized the damage that humankind was causing to the planet and helped found the World Wildlife Fund." "A decade later, many wondered if my urgency was misplaced when I spoke first publicly about the environment a decade later. This view has changed over the years, but it is still not the same as today.

He said, "As a father I am proud that this threat has been recognized by my sons," he added. William, my older son, created the Earthshot Prize to encourage change and repair the planet in the next ten year. He identified and invested in technologies that could make a difference.

Charles also mentioned Harry, which is a rare occurrence for members of the royal family these day. The prince wrote that Harry, his younger brother, had passionately highlighted climate change's impact. "Especially in Africa, he has committed his charity towards being net-zero."

Harry's "being net zero" pledge refers to Meghan Markle and his pledge to reduce their carbon footprint by zero. Recently, the couple was criticized for their use of private planes to travel. However, they also preach that everyone should work to reduce their carbon emissions.

Mention Harry was A 'Peace offering'

According to Jonathan Sacerdoti, the royal expert, Charles' reference to Harry's charity work was a “peace offering.” "That's definitely a departure from what the queen did. He said that Queen Elizabeth had made speeches twice now, where she spoke about the environment and the work her husband Prince Philip had done. "And the work her son Prince Charles, and his son Prince William, have continued to do. She didn't mention Prince Harry in any of these speeches.

Sacerdoti said that Charles had made it a point to mention both of his sons. So, I believe that this is perhaps a peace offer, let's just say in the court or public opinion. It's played out in a magazine which seems to be how Meghan and Harry prefer to do things. In a sense, he's offering peace, but he is doing so on their turf. This is, to put it in the public eye." Let's hope that this helps to melt the ice between The Firm & Prince Harry.
