Popular ghostwriter, also wrote Andre Agassi's poem "Open" as well as Nike founder Phil Knight's poem "Shoe Dog".
Prince Harry's instant bestseller "Spare" is being defended by the ghostwriter. There are also accusations of factual inaccuracies.
Interestingly, J.R. Moehringer defended the memoir genre as a form self-expression but he didn't deny that there were mistakes.
Popular ghostwriter, he quietly wrote Andre Agassi's 'Open' and Nike founder Phil Knight's 'Shoe Dog'. He made his case by quoting another author in a Wednesday tweet.
His post stated that "the line between memory, fact and interpretation is blurry. Between interpretation and fact." These kinds of mistakes can be made inadvertently.
Mary Karr, author of "The Liars Club" and "The Art of Memoir", provided the citation.
Prince Harry's location in 2002, when his great-grandmother passed away, was one of the mistakes that was pointed out. Other fact checks were as detailed as looking at the clothing Meghan Markle wore at certain events.
The English language edition of "Spare" sold over 1.4million copies within the first 24 hours after its release. This broke all previous sales records. According to reports, Penguin Random House will need to sell more than 1.7 million copies in order to break even with Prince Harry's $20,000,000 advance.
Moehringer's name is not on the title or cover of "Spare", Shoe Dog, or "Open." Ben Affleck starred in the adaptation of his memoir, "The Tender Bar".
