Quentin Tarantino Has Reportedly Finished His Last Film Script

Quentin Tarantino Has Reportedly Finished His Last Film Script

According to The Hollywood Reporter the script for the filmmaker’s 10th and perhaps last movie is called "The Movie Critic".

Quentin Tarantino is a director who has made nine films and three decades of work. The director has seen everything from crime thrillers to spaghetti Westerns, blaxploitation and history revisionism. He is said to have finished the script for his last film.

The Hollywood Reporter reported Tuesday that Tarantino was working on his 10th and perhaps final film. According to THR sources, Tarantino plans to begin filming the movie in the fall.

Although not much information is available about the film, sources informed the outlet that it was shot in 1970s Los Angeles and centers on a female lead.

Insiders in the industry, including THR, speculate that Tarantino's film might focus on Pauline Kael. Tarantino is well-known for his admiration of Kael. Indiewire reports that the late movie critic was the inspiration for his essay collection, "Cinematic Speculation."

Kael, a prominent film critic, wrote groundbreaking reviews for films such as "The Godfather" and “Bonnie and Clyde". She was well-known for her strong opinions and perseverance. In the late 1970s, Kael was a Paramount Pictures consultant. This job was offered by Warren Beatty, an industry legend. Beatty admired her for championing "Bonnie and Clyde," a film that was widely condemned for its portrayal of violence.

Tarantino's praises of Kael in the past and her work at Paramount in '70s suggest that "The Movie Critic", which was founded in 2001, could be centered on Kael.

The film has not yet been attached to a studio, but Tarantino could partner with Sony, which produced his last movie, "Once Upon a Time...in Hollywood."

Tarantino, who is 59 years old, previously stated that he would like to retire after directing 10 films or before turning 60. (The filmmaker will be celebrating his 60th birthday later in the month.

Tarantino stated, in an interview with Playboy in 2012, that he wanted to "stop at a certain point." Directors don't get any better with age. The last four films at the end are often the most disappointing in a director's filmography."

He said, "I am all over my filmography, one bad movie f---s up three great ones," he continued. "I don’t want bad, outof-touch comedy in filmography. The movie that makes people think it was 20 years ago. It's not nice when directors are out-of-date.

Critics and fans are skeptical about whether Tarantino will continue to make movies or if he will change his mind. Tarantino has also pursued other creative avenues. Tarantino currently runs a podcast called "The Video Archives", and two books, "Cinema Speculation", and a novelization "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood."
