They got engaged in May 2021. However, it wasn't lasting as they announced their split in December 2021. They shared their feelings about the situation during the Season 9 reunion. They admitted that they hadn't been intimate sexually for some time before the split. Raquel also spoke on Scheana Shay’s Sheananigans podcast. She said that everything came to an end at Thanksgiving. She described an incident between James, her father, that made her realize that this was not the relationship she wanted.

James recovered quickly after their split from Ally Lewber. He reportedly began dating her in January 2022. They are still together. Raquel has been linked with a few men since their separation.
