The actress, who played "Fat Amy" on the musical comedy films, said that she was not allowed to lose more than 10 pounds.
Rebel Wilson revealed that her "Pitch Perfect” contract included weight restrictions.
The actress, who starred in "Call Her Daddy" Wednesday's episode, stated that she was not allowed to lose more then "10 pounds" over the many years she was in the film franchise.
Wilson, 42, said that she couldn't lose weight because she was involved in contracts for the movie. You can't lose weight, I don't think it's more than 10 lbs, or gain more that 10 lbs. You must maintain the weight that's in your contract.
Wilson stated that she "waited[ed] till 'Pitch Perfect’ seemed over" before embarking on her weight loss journey.
In 2012, "Pitch Perfect" was published. Two sequels, "Pitch Perfect 2” and "Pitch Perfect 3", were released in 2015-2017. Wilson was also a star in "Pitch Perfect", the comedy that she starred in, and in "Bridesmaids", the romantic comedy "How to Be Single" in 2016.
Wilson claims that Wilson typecast her because of her weight.
She explained that she was stereotypically playing the role of the fat, funny friend. It's hard for me because I love these roles. But then, I wanted to do more. However, I felt like the bigger girl was more pigeonholed.
The "Isn’t It Romantic” star stated that she was approaching her 40th birthday and wanted to begin her health journey. She noted that her desire to have children in her future started with her desire to be healthy.
"I saw a fertility specialist, and he said, "You'd have a better chance of fertility if your body was healthier," she said. It really hurt me, as I was enjoying a much larger life.
Star of "Senior Years" previously spoke out about how she lost 80 pounds after visiting a fertility doctor in 2019.
Wilson stated that her doctor advised her to be healthier in order to increase her chances of harvesting viable eggs.
She recalled, "He looked at me up and down, and said, "You'd do better if your health was better." "I was taken aback. "Oh my God, this man is so rude," I thought. He was correct. I was carrying a lot of extra weight. It was almost as if I forgot to consider my own needs. It was thinking about the needs of my future children that inspired me to be healthier.
The "The Hustle” star stated that she had committed to a year of health in 2020. She lost more than 80 pounds. It was about being the best version of me.
She also shared that her transformation ultimately led to her learning how to take care herself emotionally.
She said, "It was about dealing the emotional issues that caused my to emotionally eat. And that's a process." You cry a lot and then you analyze the situation. This was something I had never done before. It can be hard to understand why you feel unworthy when others look at your life and see all the amazing things you have done. This is what I am trying to overcome.
