Reese Witherspoon is a star mom and has done it all, from producing movies to writing books to making movies. When asked about her three children, the actress shared her parenting tips.

How Witherspoon Parented Her Older Children: "It Is More Emotional support"

Witherspoon is the mom of Ava, Deacon, and Tennessee. The actress was asked by the Todayshow what it's like being a parent to both a 10-year old and a 23-year old.

Hoda Kotb, co-host, said that there was a lot to choose from. Jenna Bush Hager asked Jenna if she was still parenting her 23-year-old daughter. Jenna Bush Hager responded, asking, "What is adult parenting?" We want to be prepared." Kotb and she are both mothers to elementary-school-age children.

Witherspoon said, "Okay, that's what I tell people." You must have a different type of relationship with your children. It's about honesty. You know that you have to manage them when they are young. It's very physical.

She said, "And then it is more emotional support, suggestions, and not telling them what they should do when they get older." You must also nurture your adult relationships with your children and allow them the freedom to be themselves.

These are her suggestions for creative kids

Witherspoon also spoke about her childhood, telling Kotb & Hager that she was a "creative" who sold arts and crafts to children. When she wrote "Busy Betty," Witherspoon used her childhood self to inspire her. The actress also shared the lessons she hopes kids will take away from the story.

Witherspoon stated that she believes we should teach children the concepts of creativity because she was creative as a child. "But I had learn how to concentrate to make it succeed." Witherspoon shared that Betty has a friend named Mae, who helps her plan a business.

Witherspoon said, "Sometimes it is necessary to partner with people with a different skill set." It's a lot about female partnerships." Hager and Kotb appreciated Witherspoon's advice on raising older children as well as her suggestions for creative kids.
