After he was reported missing, his phone rang twice.

Julian Sands, a missing actor who went missing while hiking in Baldy Bowl on Mt. Baldy, California last week.

Sands, who starred as a star in films such as "A Room with a View", "Warlock" or "Arachnophobia," was reported missing last Friday, January 13. Yesterday, the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department issued a new statement regarding the search.

"Phone pings indicated that Sands was heading towards Mount Baldy on January 15, 2023." It stated that additional phone pings were made to the cell provider but failed due to a lack of service and most likely a cell phone power problem. "A delayed ping via Sands' Apple iPhone operating systems, January 14, 2023 provided a possible location along one of the trails leading up to Mount Baldy."

They said that they had checked the area by helicopter and ground searches, but were unable to find any evidence that could help Mr. Sands."

They continued, "Due to avalanche risk and trail conditions, ground crews were pulled off of the mountain on Saturday evening." The search will continue by drones and helicopters when weather permits. When the weather is good, additional ground searches will take place.

The actor's son and his family reportedly went to the area with an experienced hiker to join the search. However, the Sheriff's Department urges everyone to avoid that area. They call it "extremely dangerous even to skilled hikers."

They warned that "current weather conditions and low clouds coverage make it difficult to deploy resources in that area when a hiker is missing." The weather is a major factor in how much we can use when we do deploy resources.

Authorities confirmed that Sands' car had been found in a lot. It is believed that he left it there before his hike. His family then had it tow away.
