Guerdy Abrara, star of "The Real Housewives of Miami", has been diagnosed as having breast cancer.

She shared the news on Instagram Wednesday, saying that she had "found out news" in March about her health.

She explained, "I was on St. Barts enjoying my vacation when my doctor called to tell me the results of a mammogram that he had done." "I have cancer of the breast." "It took me some time to process everything and that's why I took last month off from social media, as many people noticed."

Abraira thanked those who reached out in the past few weeks to check up on her. She then said that she is "preparing for my surgery, and will follow my treatment plan." She called the process "intense" before asking for fans to "empowerment, not pity."
